A Rose Between the Thorns

Chapter 1

One minute I heard the sounds of cars passing by and then darkness. There was no sound, no cold November wind against my cheeks, nothing. Then suddenly I could feel soft grass beneath my finger tips, a gentle breeze against my cheeks and the sound nature all around me.

My senses came back to me and I began to pull at the grass to see if it was reel, it was. I was about to open my eye's when I felt a sharp kick to my side, the sudden pain opening them for me. "Ow!" I shouted lifting my head slightly I found the foot that kicked me clad in a black leather boot then as my head rose further I noticed it was man judging by his build and then I heard a voice.

"Hey, what you doing sleeping on the ground?" I knew that, I didn't know why, but I could have sworn I had heard that gruff, annoyed voice before. Using my arms I hauled my self up onto my knees and when my head lifted I couldn't believe what I saw. This was impossible, standing before me, one hand grasping the katana at his waist and the other pulling the cigaret from his mouth, was Yami Sukehiro from my favourite anime.

I couldn't help, but gawk. "Hey quit gawking, I asked you a question. What are you doing sleeping on the ground?" I shook my head not only to stop gawking but also to stop fantasying about a character from my favourite anime.

When my head stilled I looked back up to still find I was in a forest and Captain Yami was indeed real and still standing there, though now his expresion was becoming more tiresome. "I wasn't sleeping, I blacked out and woke up here on the ground." I said though my voice was uncertain and I couldn't stop staring.

"Ah huh. Well does the sleeping girl have a name?" I grumbled about not sleeping under my breath thankfully I don't think he heard. "Rose, my name is Rose." I said taking the momentary silence as an opportunity to stand up.

My legs were a little unsteady, but I soon found my footing as Yami continued to just stair at me, until I stared back motioning for him to say something rather than stare. "Well if you want to head back home I have a guy who can send you back." As he spoke Yami began walking and I walked beside him, not wanting to be left in the forest alone.

I sighed at what he said, though on the inside I was fan grilling that I would get to meet Finral. "Well about that, since I passed I don't know where home is, or how I even ended up in this forest in the first place." Taking a puff of his cigarette Yami continued on talking as we walked.

"Well you could crash with me and my squad until those memories of yours come back." My eye's lit up at his word, I could stay with the Black Bulls, this is a dream come true. I calmed my thoughts and my expression before noting that Yami was waiting for a response.

Taking a quick breath to calm myself I spoke. "I'd appreciate that thank you." After that we continued walking until we broke through the tree line and what I saw made me scream on the inside out of excitement. The Black Bulls hide out.

Going to the door Yami cracked it open for me before giving me a glance. "Just as a fair warning my squad are a whole bunch of knuckleheads so be prepared to almost have your head taken clean off." I nodded as I pushed the door open further and already I could see what he meant.

Over near the back wall I saw Gauche leaning whilst staring at a photo of no doubt Marie, on the couch Vanessa was sprawled out with a bottle in hand and one in her lap, Final looking like he was about to fall asleep, whilst Grey and Gordon were sat side by side on the couch Gordon mumbling and Grey, well being Grey and finally I spotted Charmy sat at the table so round by her sheep cooks as they continued to cook and serve her dishes of food.

From beside me Yami stepped forward his presence commanding attention. "Hey you knuckleheads, I've got someone here for you to meet." With that everyone stopped what they were doing and were immediately set out in some form of a line in front of me and Yami. "I found her asleep in the woods, she doesn't remember her home so she'll be crashing with us until those memories come back, so I suggest you introduce yourselves."

With that everyones eye's tuned to me and I was filled with excitement, but also nerves as I didn't fully know what to expect, they could be completely different compared to their anime counterparts. Suddenly and arm was slung over my shoulder and when I turned my head I saw Vanessa smiling down at me. "Well why don't I start. I'm Vanessa, over there's Gauche, then there's Finral, Charmy, Grey and Gordon." She pointed to everyone as she said their name.

I gave them all a small wave. "It's nice to meet you all, I'm Rose and I'm Nineteen years old." At that everyone gave their own wave and a hello each in their own way. Gauche shoved a picture of Marie in my face. "This is my darling sister Marie, a Goddess." I smiled at the photo knowing that Gauche would have shown me at some point. "She's adorable Gauche." He seemed satisfied with my answer as he walked over to one of the chairs to continue staring at the photograph.

"Well hello my lovely Lady, Finral Roulacase at your service." I chuckled at his attempt at flirting. "It's nice to meet you Finral, though I'm sorry to say I'm not looking for a date." His face deflated at my words, but he said "you can't win them all." I chuckled again at this.

Then I felt a tug at the bottom of my t-shirt, I looked down to find Charmy standing there. "Here try this." As she said that she brought up an entire plate of what I guessed was some kind of pasta dish and a fork. I took the bowl and utensil, taking a bite it was delicious. I can't believe I get to have some of Charmy's food. "This is delicious, thank you." She smiled at my compliment before taking the bowl back and saying she'd keep it warm until I was ready to finish it.
