As I sat nervously on the chaarpai, my heart was beating rapidly and I couldn't help but wet my lips out of nervousness. My hands were fidgeting with the fabric of my kurta as I scanned the area, hoping to see baba walking towards me. But he was nowhere in sight.

And there he was, just a step away from me with a determined look on his face. My fear grew as he got closer and closer. I quickly stood up and ran towards the counter where baba was paying for our purchases.

I stood beside him, panting and holding onto his hand for dear life. Baba looked at me with confusion, asking what was wrong? I tried to hide my fear behind a smile and replied, "nothing, baba. Can we leave now?", but inside, I was terrified.

I tightly held onto his hand, afraid for my life. My head bowed down as I followed behind baba, my heart was beating fast. My mind was racing, the thought of someone dying because of me weighed heavily on my conscience.

What if he ordered one of his men to kill Aahil for simply talking to me?

It would devastate me to know that someone lost their life because of a simple conversation.

Baba noticed my distress and asked, " gudiya, are you worried about something?", my voice quivering, I replied, "we'll talk about it when we reach home, please baba". I forced a smile, trying to mask my terror. The situation was overwhelming and I felt helpless.

But I kept telling myself that everything would be okay, and held onto my optimism as tightly as I held onto baba's hand.

As we continued walking, the chilly breeze made me close my eyes and swallow hard, trying to keep the cold air from entering my body. I could feel my cheeks turning rosy with each gust of wind.

I raise my head slightly to see if he was still there but no he was nowhere in sight, I let out a sigh of relief. Baba and I approached Aahil, who was busy eating.

"Enjoy your food, we're leaving", baba said to Aahil, who looked up from his plate and complained, "You guys didn't even finish your food!", I looked around and saw that the food trays were still filled, except for the chole bhature which was more than half-eaten.

Baba playfully responded, "no, we're full. You can eat the rest". Aahil jokingly replied, "I'll become mota!", this made me chuckle as I glanced up at his plump cheeks, filled with food.

He looked so cute!

"You'd look cute, but it might affect your health", baba said, chuckling.

"You think so?", Aahil asked baba, but stared into my eyes.

"Yeah", baba replied with a nod.

"Thank you! But seriously, sir, You haven't eaten anything. Please have something; you need to take your medicine, remember?", Aahil said, licking his fingers, which made me scrunch my nose.
