"Tum theek ho?", Arfa asked placing a hand on my shoulder, making me look at her with a convincing smile.
"Haan, main theek hoon, mujhe kya hona hai?", I replied shrugging my shoulders and sipping my hot coffee.
We are seated in the bustling food court, enjoying our meals and engaging in lively conversation. While everyone around me chats animatedly, Iam preoccupied with the haunting voice of that man in my head, pondering the identity of the mysterious speaker. As I try to make sense of it all, I can't help but notice the vibrant atmosphere of the mall food court, filled with the aroma of various cuisines and the sound of laughter and chatter.
Ayesha sipped her orange juice, humming a song. "Guys, I think that man at the left-side table is stalking us. He's been following us since the office. Please don't all look at him once; just act normal".
My heart began to race. Having watched countless Korean dramas and read numerous dark romance novels, I knew that while such scenarios were thrilling in fiction, in real life, they could make us wet our pants.
Gulping nervously, I casually glanced around, trying not to be obvious about my curiosity. I took a quick side-eye peek at the table where a man sat wearing all black, complete with a black cap. His t-shirt clung tightly to his muscles, showcasing his physique. A dark beard covered his strong jawline, and his straight nose accentuated his handsome features, visible from the side. When he turned his head, I quickly diverted my gaze and took a bite of my chocolate cake.
"Why didn't you tell us sooner?", Rida asked wiping her face with a tissue.
"I didn't realize he would follow us all the way here", Ayesha replied biting her lip as she glanced at us.
"Yaar, where the hell is your bodyguard? Shouldn't he be here protecting you?", Arfa questioned, yawning.
"He said he was taking a call and would be right back", I replied, not making a big deal out of it.
"There's something off about your bodyguard; I'm damn sure of it", Rida said without lifting her head from her phone as she typed.
"What do you mean?", I asked raising my brow at her.
"I have seen that man with Sheh----", just then, my phone rang, making me look down to see baba calling.
"Assalamualaikum, baba", I greeted.
"Walaikumassalam, beta. Aap kaha ho?", baba asked, his voice sounding panicked.
"Main mall mein hu. Kyu, baba? Kya hua? Aap pareshan lag rahe ho", I replied, my voice filled with worry.
"Aap sab ke saath rehna, akele kahi mat jana. Main aa raha hu", he said before ending the call, leaving me staring at my phone in concern.
Why was he sounding panicked? Did something happen? Had he eaten his food and taken his medicines? Was his blood pressure normal? I told him to take his medicines after eating; did he remember to do that?
