"I KNEW YOU WOULD COME ."

Cirilla ran into Uhtreds arms, both of them relaxing as the other was safe.

"Are you hurt?" He asked, inspecting the girl, who quickly assured him she was fine.

"Brida got away." she said.

He pulled away, gently cupping her face in his hands "Her child laid dead. There would've been no honor in taking advantage of her grief."

With a small shake of her head, she stepped back. "She slaughtered my people, good people." She thought of Hella, the all too kind servant girl who was almost always warm and welcoming. Cirilla had failed her, she would not make the same mistake twice." You go after her and kill her, or I'm sure Sigtryggr will."

Sigtryggr and Cirilla stood hand in hand as Wolland killed the remaining of Bridas men, Rognavaldr amongst them.

"Brother, I have wronged you." He began. "I was deceived by the witch."

"You will be silent." Sigtrggyr said. When Wolland made his way over to Rognvaldr, Cirilla couldn't exactly say she was upset. He had betrayed her husband, caused death amongst their people and destroyed their lives so she was a bit disappointed when Sigtrggyr let him speak.

"I fought with you."

"No, you saw he hide turn and sought only to save yourself." Sigtrggyr told him.

"I saved your life!" Cirilla sighed, sick and tired of the man's lies and manipulation.

"We're brothers. We're blood." Sigtryggr eyes fell closed as he listens to his brother beg.

"He should be dead." She walked over to him, cupping his face in her hands
"But he is your brother, and I understand why you couldn't do it." Sigtryggr leaned into his wives touch, finding comfort in the warmth of her hands.

"I'm sorry this happens to you." He whispered, staring into her eyes. "I'm your husband and I should've protected you. I failed yo-" He was interrupted by Cirilla placing her lips against his, pulling away after a moment.

"You could never fail me." She assured with a smile. "You protect me every day. I felt you with me even when you were not here, you made sure I kept fighting and did not give in." She told him, joining their hands together. "We are one."

Sigtryggr processed her words. She might have felt as though he had not failed her, but deep down he knew that he had failed her deeply, as a husband. He felt guilty for allowing her wife to suffer all the pain she went through in his absence. He was foolish to trust his brother, she had warned him and he didn't listen. In that moment, he swore to get revenge for his people, for his wife.

"Cirilla." Uhtred called her. She stopped in her path, turning to the man as he approached. "It's about the Lady Aethelflaed." Her smile dropped from her face as soon as he mentioned her sister.
