Katrina POV:
As soon as Kelsey and I got back to the room, my phone started ringing like crazy. It was text messages, DRUNK text messages, from JR. And honestly, I just responded by saying it's over. I'm not dealing with him. I knew it was going to be over as soon as my mother called me saying he was parading around Oakland as if he's single. He can always see Jaeden but as for me and him being together, I'm done.
I took my shower listening to March Madness by Future. Once I got out I placed my hair in a messy bun and put on a pair of spandex and a sports bra. Before I could even get comfortable, there was a knock on my door. I seen it was Jahlil. I grabbed a nearby t shirt before stepping outside.
Me: wassup Jah?
Jahlil: nothing, um I just wanted to let you know that I'm attracted to you.
Me: Jahlil, it's cute but I have son and I just got out a relationship, what could you possibly want from me?
Jahlil: you. We all come with baggage but I'll help you get over that baggage. After all of the events blow over, let me take you out on a date and besides I know your leaving the land soon.
Me: how'd you figure?
Jahlil: it shows all over your face. Just let me know where you headed and I'll be there for you whenever you need me.
It's cute that he's trying to be my man or whatever you want to call it but, I just can't.
Me: Jah, I'm 22 your 19 you're barely out there in the world-
Jahlil: I've been out here long enough to know a diamond when I see one.
I blushed. He called me a diamond.
Jahlil: I would be the one to make you smile like that daily if you let me.
Me: I'm going to DC since you want to know-
Jahlil: I'll be in DC after summer league.
Me: we'll see how my son takes to you. Before we go any further.
Knowing my son, he'll cling to the Duke guys because he's been around them before.
Jahlil: good night Katrina.
Me: good night Jah.
I walked back in my room and closed the door lightly before pressing my back up against it.
Kelsey: who was that and what happened?
I walked back into the room to see her sitting on my bed.
Me: it was Jah and we talked.
A smirk grew on her face and I wondered why.
Kelsey: about what?
Me: none of your business.
Kelsey: Ima find out soon.
Me: fine. It's 11 we gotta be up at 5 go to sleep.
Kelsey: good night siss
Me: good night.*5 AM*
The alarm that was set on my phone started to go off. I pulled off the covers and began to do my daily hygiene. My sister woke up soon after and I did. We put on our workout gear before heading downstairs. I waited for all the guys to get here before we started out the group run headed to Central Park and ended at the Hudson River. All of the guys were in shape and kept up. We then walked over to Terminal 23 which is right down the block from Madison Square Garden. Tyler was busy setting up drills for the guys to do. While I had a roster of 5 guys to work out with because of their injuries.
Me: if you hear your name being called, just step off to the half of the court, Chris McCullough, Kelly Oubre, Cameron Payne, Willie Cauley Stein and Devin Booker.
I walked over behind the guys and watched as they were eager to find out what we were going to be getting into today.
Me: so most of have the same injury. And I want you guys to be at the best of your ability, after draft for summer league. For many great players and if you want to be rookie of year or the leagues MVP it starts in Summer League. So for Booker, Cauley-Stein, and Oubre all torn hamstring am I correct?
They all nodded their heads as I began to show them the workouts that they'll be doing to complete that'll be helping them strengthen their hamstrings.
Me: as for Payne and McCullough you guys torn your ACLs. I took a look at your X-rays and might I say whoever you were being trained by was doing a wonderful job but I just want to make sure that you're 100% healthy for summer league and your rookie season.
I demonstrated the work outs they'll be doing. Once Tyler and I were finished working out with our group, we decided to let them run scrimmages until training was over. While they were running their scrimmages, my phone began to ring. It was my mom.
Me: hello?
Mom: we're here in the city. Where do you want me to meet so you can have your son.
Me: meet infront of Terminal 23 at 1:30.
Mom: okay we'll see you then.
Me: see you.
I hung up and not even 5 minutes later my phone started ringing and this time it was the Wizards Organization.
WizardsGM: so have you made your decision yet?
Me: yes and it's actually a choice to move back to DC and be apart of this organization.
WizardsGM: we can finalize all further agreements the day after draft and welcome to the Wizards and we want to give you the opportunity to coach during summer league.
Me: I'm honored thank you for this opportunity as to being your head trainer.
I hung up the call and a smile was plastered on my face. My son was here and I'm going home to DC.
Jaeden: MOMMY!!!
He's one now and he thinks he can put the world on his shoulders. I bent down to his level and scooped him up in my arms. Wondering how he got in the gym that is a question that will go unanswered. I placed kisses all over his face. If he doesn't have his father he got me.
Me: I missed you Jaeden.
Jaeden: I missed you too mommy.
TC blew the whistle which meant training was coming to a close. And Jaeden took that time to yell.
Jaeden: BALL!!
He immediately ran over to a ball and picked it up. The guys watched and Kelly ran over and helped him place it in the hoop. He clapped and once he placed back on feet he ran to me and I placed him on my hip as the guys took they seats.
Me: tomorrow we'll be doing pool workouts.
We heard groans coming from a few guys. Pool workouts are the worst. I hated them as an athlete. But if it's going to make it you stronger then you just have to bear it and complete everything.
Tyler: but that means you get to wake up later. Bring extra basketball shorts sneakers t shirt and a towel. Hardwork on 3 Dedication on 6.
The guys placed their hands above Jaedens head and he did the same.
Me: 1...2...3
Guys: HARDWORK
Me: 4...5...6
Guys: DEDICATION
