Chapter 6

"Shadowed Obsession"

┏ •◦இ•◦ ┓

Alara strutted into her penthouse, the automatic glass doors sliding open as if to bow before her. The world outside was dark, but inside her kingdom, everything shimmered.

The soft glow of lavender-scented candles cast a warm, ethereal light over the lavish space.

Plush lavender and cream furniture, all custom-made, framed her enormous windows that overlooked the city like her personal playground.

The walls, adorned with the latest art pieces and giant mirrors, reflected not just her image but the perfection she curated in every corner of her life.

Ava’s soft, familiar voice filled the room. “Welcome home, Lulu. Your shopping bags have been placed in the dressing room, and the bath is ready at your preferred temperature."

Alara, in her signature strut, let her mini-dress catch the light as she walked in. A satisfied smirk played on her glossy lips.

She dropped her handbag, carelessly, but of course, Ava’s robotic arm immediately caught it and set it on the velvet chaise like a prized artifact.

Alara glided toward the enormous floor-to-ceiling mirror near the entrance and gave herself a once-over, adjusting a stray hair and smoothing the front of her dress.

Her perfectly contoured face and fluttering lashes were still immaculate after a day of shopping. “Too much? Never,” she whispered to her reflection with a smirk.

She walked past the dining area, where a bouquet of fresh orchid her favorite sat in the middle of the table. Ava had made sure every petal was flawless.

Alara's life wasn’t just perfect it sparkled, it shimmered, and there was no such thing as subtlety in her world. She twirled around once, letting her silky dress sway before heading toward her en-suite.

As she entered her enormous dressing room, her shopping bags from the day greeted her like trophies. Designer brands that hadn’t even hit the market yet, exclusive collections with her name attached Alara didn’t just wear fashion, she owned it.

The walls were lined with rows of shoes, handbags, and outfits perfectly coordinated by color and style.

She stopped by one of the displays, eyeing the newest handbag she’d just snagged, the one that no one else in the country would dare dream of owning.

“Ava,” she called out with a small sigh, “Cancel tomorrow’s plans. I need a day to just breathe. I’ve shopped enough.”

Ava’s holographic form appeared. “Of course, Lulu. Shall I reschedule for next week’s boutique openings?”
