** OMG guys i wasnt sure if I was going to commit to this story. I told myself that if I got to 10 chapters and still wanted to go on id put it up on wattpad. So here you go, this story is honestly turning out way more interesting to me then I anticipated. Anyway I hope you're enjoying the story, this is just the beginning there is much more to come !!! I predict this story to be 30 chapters ish. We'll see.
The next time Haru woke up, he was back in his cell. In his bed, under clean blankets. If it weren't for the pain coursing through every inch of his body this would be bliss. He was finally back in his safe familiar place, he almost didn't even care how he got there or what happened while was asleep. Almost.
He noticed the food by his bed, and the large build of a man whos back was turned to him sitting on the stool. Kane, he instantly knew. He decided to ignore the way his muscles relaxed ever so slightly at the sight of his cell mate, the way he felt instantly safer and at ease. He shouldn't, he told himself he should still be cautious of the man but his body simply didn't comply with his thoughts.
Haru shifted his arm every so slightly, making a move to get up. But the next second Kane had turned around with a worry filled gaze. 'No no, dont move yet.' He gently fretted. Slowly and hesitantly moving closer to the fragile boy. He made sure Haru could see his hands before touching his shoulder and slowly helping Haru sit up, taking extra pillows from his own bed to support his back 'Doctor let you stay on bed rest for a week. You got out off duties and roll calls and mealtime until then.' The young man numbly nodded, still dazed and trying to understand what was going on. Before he could process much Kane had a bottle of water pressed up to his chapped lips, and apron thinking about it he realised how dry and sore his throat was from all the screaming, so he eagerly accepted the water. Gulping down the bottle till it was empty and Kane took it away.
Now with a slightly less painful throat and more clear of mind, Haru looked over to his cell mate with his mind made up. Determination sparked in his eyes for perhaps the first time in years. 'Bring your friends here. Thomas and Rodrick, I have something to say to you all.' Haru spoke calmly, though his voice was scratchy and low as a whisper.
Kane was taken aback at the stage request, not even knowing Haru knew Rodrick and Thomas's name, non the less he complied with a short 'ok' and soon the three police officers crowded the small cell awaiting Haru's words.
'I know who you guys are now, what you're doing in this prison.' Haru revealed. The cel was in silence, none of the officers willing to confirm what Haru was implying almost holding their breaths at the possibility their cover was blown. Till Rodrick spoke up.
'And what prey tell do you think we are kid?' he almost demanded, taking a threading step forward, to which Kane stepped up and put n arm in front of Rodrick in defence of Haru, stopping Rodrick where he was.
Haru seemed unfazed by the tension in the room then, unfazed or he simply didn't care. His eyes lazily wandered in the direction of Kane, looking directly at the man when he said 'you are here undercover. Police or FBI haven't figured it out yet. You are here to gain information on Kings and his operations outside the prison.'
Again silence befell the cell as the officers processed the words and decided on their next move.
'And how did you come to such a bizarre conclusion?' Thomas this time asked.
Haru, still looking in Kanes direction, replied 'well, it was between that and the theory you where from a rival gang trying to take King down. It was fairly easy to guess you were against King either way. But that was out of the question once you realise no gang has the balls to go against King, and no gang member would cite law of withholding medical attention of prisoners as a liable factor to fire a guard in my defence. But all of that is irrelevant now.'
'And if we are what you claim we are, what are you going to do knowing that?' Kane warily asked. Trying to gage Haru's reaction to the knowledge but simply couldn't with how emotionless Haru's expression and voice came out with. That was until Haru said the next crucial words that would change the course of their mission entirely.
'Im going to help you.'
** super short chapter I know, but it seemed an appripreate place to end it off
