'And why exactly would you help us? Do you not work for King?' Rodrick snapped, again apprehensive to believe Haru's intentions.
'I don't work for him,' Haru replied, still not looking away from Kane. Kane, who was his only grounding force to keep him from falling apart before doing what needed to be done. 'I am used by him. And I've had enough. I want revenge, I want to see him suffer and for everything that he's built to fall. I want his precious empire and all the sick fucks with him to fall. I hate it, more than anyone I hate it. But Ive been in this for long enough that with my help I can tell you every detail you need to know.' Though he barely spoke a whisper, the anger and pain was clear in his voice as tears welled in his eyes but never fell. There was determination and purpose.
'Ok' Kane finally spoke, 'ok, tell us what you can. Who are you to King? Why is King really in this prison? And when is this next big drug operation taking place?'
Like a robot, Haru replied 'my job is simple. I have Hyperthymesia as Gal calls it. I can remember every detail that happens, or information given to me. And never forget it. So, before I was put in this prison I was given hundreds of codes to memorise. From then on I receive information over the phone that is coded, and only I remember how to crack it. Then I tell King the information sent. Pretty simple. Nothing is written down, theres no physical proof or weak link in the chain.'
'So his next major drug operation, you have information on that?' Kane proceeded to question.
Haru took a moment to briefly look into Kanes eyes before looking back to just his general direction. Before answering 'King dose not only do drugs. If anything thats just what he want you guys to believe. King controls not only all imports of underground drugs, he controls the distribution of the stuff to. But thats just the surface. He recently started weapons trade too, most guns you find on the streets passed through him at some point, he took down the last main illegal weapons trade gang right before he got in here. Because of this he controls most gangs in London to some level. They support him for protection and power, he supplies. If he cuts off the drug or weapons people are in trouble, he's monopolised the black markets. Even local petty drug dealers have to pay their dues to King in his territories. He's run sex trafficking operations in the past and a few prostitution sites in the many hotels and casinos he owns across the country. Though I only found out about that part recently. He's got connections in the police force, even the guards in here work for him.'
'Holy fucking shit.' Rodrick breathed in shock, vocalising how Kane and Thomas felt. This was much larger than they thought, much more complicated and in the grand scheme of things, much more terrifying.
'The only reason he is in this prison is because there someone in here he wants to persuade a deal with. An ex Mafia who gave it all up, but still holds immense power and money. He wants to convince him to join forces or something. No one connected to King is in here for no reason.' Haru continued.
After a brief pause, the police officers given time to process what was revealed,Haru continued. He told them how the underground system operates, he gave them names who were at the top of the hierarchy. But as he spoke, Haru felt his restraint slipping. His pain was bubbling on the surface, raging like a storm tearing him apart inside. The waves threatened to break his monotone and emotionless dementor. He had to finish fast, he couldn't let them see him weak. He couldn't cry now, he had to be strong, had to ignore it. 'Final information on the next big operation is coming through in three days, it will most likely take place in the next month....' He continued, with his appearance remaining numb.
But Kane noticed. He noticed his cell mates eyes start flickering faster, he saw the way he fisted the blankets till his knuckles turned pale. He heard the ever so slight hitch in Haru's voice at words the end.
So when Haru finished telling them the information would be given encoded over the phone in three days, Kane shifted taller to draw everyone's attention. 'I think thats enough information for now, thank you Haru.' Rodrick opened his mouth to protest, too determined with all the questions he wanted to ask brimming his mind. But Thomas got the silent message from Kane, agreeing that this could be discussed again later and took a protesting Rodrick with him back to their cell.
