Seraphina made her way to the maids' quarters, her mind buzzing with excitement and confusion. This is really working, she thought. It was strange—what had started as a game to make Mr. Pedro fall in love with her had begun to stir emotions she hadn’t expected. Yet she couldn’t tell if it was just part of the plan or if her heart was betraying her. She needed guidance, and there was only one person she trusted to provide it: Marie.

When she found Marie folding laundry in her usual calm manner, Seraphina didn’t waste time. She plopped onto the bed, brushing damp curls out of her face from the earlier rain, and leaned in close.

"Marie, it’s working." Seraphina whispered with a conspiratorial grin. “I think... I think the steps are actually working. He’s getting closer, and I—” she hesitated for a second. "I need the final step. What’s the last thing I need to do to finish this?"

Marie glanced up from the sheets, a knowing smirk playing on her lips. She let out a soft laugh as if she had been expecting this moment.

"Already feeling confident, huh?" Marie teased, her eyes twinkling.

"I need to know, Marie," Seraphina urged, her excitement making her voice tremble slightly. “Just tell me. I’ve come too far to stop now."

Marie set down the laundry, folded her arms, and looked at her friend thoughtfully. "The last step," she began slowly, "isn’t something you can fake, Seraphina. This one has to be real."

Seraphina blinked, confused. "What do you mean?"

Marie leaned closer, her expression serious now. "The final step is unexpected vulnerability. You need to let him see a part of you that you don’t usually show anyone—something real, something that will make him feel deeply. And it can’t be part of the act this time.”

Seraphina sat back, processing Marie's words. She hated being vulnerable. She hated the idea of showing her weaknesses. But Marie’s gaze was unwavering.

"Men like Mr. Pedro," Marie continued, "aren’t easily moved by charm or games. They’re drawn to authenticity—something they can protect and cherish. If you can give him that, even for a moment, you’ll have him wrapped around your finger.”

Seraphina’s heart thudded in her chest. “But what if I can’t? What if I mess it up?”

Marie smiled softly. "That’s the beauty of the final step, Seraphina. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being honest. Let him see the real you."

Seraphina bit her lip. She hadn’t expected this twist. “So... that’s it? Just be vulnerable?"

Marie nodded. "That’s it. No tricks. No pranks. Just you."

For a long moment, Seraphina sat in silence, her mind swirling with possibilities and fears. She wasn’t sure if she could do it—if she was ready to drop the mask she’d spent years building.

But one thing was certain: if she wanted to win, if she truly wanted to capture Mr. Pedro’s heart, she would have to risk everything.
