Chapter 10

James

I watched her as she put her headphones on and dropped her head to the table, thinking about just picking her up and holding her.

"It's ok mate, she'll come around." Derrick said as he tried to reassure me.

Dianna

I spent the morning pretty out of it, just kinda in my own world.
I had study hall all morning so I didn't see James either, which I wasn't sure if I was happy or sad about. On one hand I like him but sometimes the little think just made me feel yucky.

"Come on Dianna, focus." My tutor Ashley, who is Toney's sub, said to me.

"Why, all of this is pointless, I'm gonna spend the rest of my life locked in daycares, car seats, strollers. All while never being allowed to enjoy alcohol, cigarettes, or sky diving." I say repeatedly and lifelessness hitting my forehead on the table, just for dramatic effect you know.

"Oh please I've seen you at barbecues, you couldn't live through a cigarette." David said from next to me, while he aimlessly stared at the ceiling.

"What is wrong with you two today, my god." Ashley said, shutting her text book in defeat.
"James tried to put me in a car seat."
"I get me classification tomorrow." Me and David said at the same time.

"It's not that bad you know? My best friend loves spending her days in strollers and day care." Ashley said to me, in a sour attempt to cheer me up.
I only glared at her, too dumb founded to respond.
"And you might love your classification, David. It might give you a sense of self, and inner peace." Ashley says moving on.

"Oh look little miss practically perfect sub thinks I'll find inner peace." David said in mock blissfulness. 

"I give up." Ashley says slumping back on to her chair. 

"Uh what's happening right now." Derrick pipes up from behind David, along with James, Taylor, and Toney.

I didn't see it because I was still busy hitting my head on the table, but David nearly fell of his chair in surprise, none of us seeing the four standing there the hole time.

James came behind my chair and pulled me up to stop the table abuse.
"They're wallowing in self pity." Ashley said, still slumped in her chair.

"Oh no I'm just hoping to find my inner peace in My  new classification." I say in fake wistfulness, vaguely quoting Ashley.

"Enough, let's go you've got class." James says pulling my up from my seat, and I can hear his eyes rolling.

"Taylor save mee." I say quietly as James pushes me out the library with his hand on my lower back.

"I'll never forget you Dee." I hear her say back as we round the corner.

"So mine tonight?" James says as we walk.
"Will that thing still be in the car?" I ask, looking out the windows in the hallway.

"It's just a booster seat Dianna. Its not a big deal, can't you just try and cooperate?" He begs, sounding exhausted already.

I chose not to answer instead pouting in silence for a few moments.
"Wait what class do I have? Where are we going." I say as we step onto the familiar hallway.

"It's fine Dianna, just sit and not listen again, but you have to go to these classes." James said, putting his hand around my lower back, I'm guessing in case I tried to run away.

"James.." I said as he started pushing me forward, then eventually picking me up and carrying me into the class.
I wasn't given much chance to leave when James sat down with me in his lap, one arm around my waist, and iron grip holding me in place while his other arm picked up my bag, pulled out my headphones.

"Just go to sleep, have a nap or something." He told me using both hands to put the headphones on me.
He pulled his book and pen out and got ready to do the work before readjusting putting me on his left so he could put that arm around me and write.

I gave up arguing instead putting my hood up and just laying on James, but after a while I got uncomfortable and wanted to spin around and face the other way, choosing to wrap my arms around his big arm like a koala, and lean against that.

James watched me while I moved around, letting me get comfortable, taking his other arm and rubbing up and down my back for A bit then going back to writing.

I woke up an hour later in James car still in his lap but in a different position and my hoodie and shoes were gone.
I slowly lifted my head a bit to look around me then slumped it back onto James chest.
"Good morning" he said quietly, as he rubbed my back.
"You slept through 5th period." He told me, putting his phone down and using that hand to gently stroke my jaw and side of my neck.

"It's 6th period now?" I asked quietly.
"Yea, do u want to go In and finish the rest of the day" he asked.

"Ew no." I say still tired.
"Okay okay. How about we go to mine, get take out and we can make that list of rules." He asked me quietly.
"KFC?" I questioned looking up at him.

"Absolutely." He said laughing lightly, pulling out his phone and opening the app.

James let me pick what I wanted then got like enough food to feed a small village for himself, which I laughed about, until I wasn't laughing because James told me I'd have to get in the passenger seat, so we could be home when the food go there.

He didn't give me much chance to think about it before he was carrying me round to the passenger side and strapping me in.
I was not happy.
