Terim's loud shouts of pain gradually turned into low whimpers. Each cry hammered Ren's heart, intensifying his struggle.

He attempted to break free from his invisible shackles but to no avail. Maybe it was Terim's cries or Ren's fruitless struggle that amused Lyra, prompting a burst of laughter from her mouth.

"Oh gosh, Pfftt... What are you even trying to do? Trying to move your fingers... Ah! Are you trying to make a call?" Lyra chuckled, mocking Ren's feeble attempts to break free and use his communicator.

Ren's heart thumped upon hearing her words. If she checked his communicator, she would definitely see the active call interface for the past few minutes.

Ren's movements paused as he desperately tried to think of a way to distract Lyra's attention away from his communicator.

"Why Terim?" Ren questioned, his heart aching at Terim's broken sobs despite his lack of physical pain.

"That's because he is ambitious. Only ambitious people dare to endure the pain and go further, beyond everyone's reach,"

Lyra explained. "As I was saying, it's useless for you to struggle. The moment you enter this room, all types of communication devices become useless. There's a jammer here. Dorion... you even forgot such a basic thing," she clicked her tongue, expressing disappointment at Dorion's forgetfulness.

That may have been true for others, but not for Ren. His system had helped him secure a stable connection to the helpline number.

Ren prayed for the police to arrive sooner while simultaneously attempting to coax a confession out of Lyra.

"You turn them into dried corpses," Ren's statement stirred something in Lyra.

She stood up from her chair and shut off the cabin. Terim was finally free from the sudden intense jolts of pain that threatened to tear his body apart.

Lyra opened the cabin to check on Terim. He was still hanging there. She breathed a sigh of relief. It is not easy for her to find a perfect experimental subject.

"Don't want Terim to become like those ugly things," Lyra's face crumpled in disgust as she remembered those failed experiments.

"I only commanded them to do a few things. Who would have thought that they would drain their blood on their own? Really so stupid," Lyra lamented, her tone filled with frustration and disbelief. She was mumbling to herself while completely ignoring Dorion's question.

However, it was enough for Ren to confirm his previous suspicion. It was her handiwork.

Thanks to her powerful spiritual hint, those people died such a miserable death. No wonder there were no signs of struggle on the bodies.

Lyra set the timer for ten minutes in the cabin. After all, she didn't want to experience another failed experiment.

She would use this break to let Terim's body rest, and then they would proceed to the second stage.

While Lyra was occupied typing codes on the cabin module, Ren closed his eyes to concentrate on the force holding him down.

Ren possessed S-level mental strength, so he should be capable of breaking free from these strange invisible chains.

He tried to recall anything useful related to the use of mental strength.

Much to Ren's dismay, the author had glossed over all the important tidbits.

The novel primarily focuses on the romantic encounters of the male lead, and female lead, leaving Ren with no useful information!

However, he recalled another audiobook he had listened to. It was about a system that empowered a weak protagonist to become strong enough to fight monsters.
