Chapter 24: Unraveling Secrets
The tour was moving, and we were already flying to the next stop. It almost feels like the time doesn't consider my feelings but keeps going forward, and I can't comprehend it.
The plane ride had been quiet. Too quiet. Usually, the boys were chatty, laughing, or watching something together, but today felt different. There was an unspoken tension in the air that seemed to cling to everyone. Yoongi sat a few rows behind me, headphones on, eyes closed. Whether he was sleeping or just avoiding conversation, I couldn't tell.
Rosé sat beside me, occasionally scrolling through her phone, but she hadn't said much either. We were all exhausted from the constant travel, but this silence felt heavier like it was filled with unasked questions and brewing suspicions. The boys had been acting strange lately, more observant, more...watchful.
I couldn't help but feel exposed like they were all quietly piecing together the truth. Every stolen glance, every whispered conversation with Yoongi—it was all coming back to me now in flashes. Had we been too obvious? We had been so careful, or at least we thought we had. But the boys were no fools. They spent every waking moment with us; they knew our habits and routines, and clearly, something wasn't adding up.
As we landed and made our way through the terminal, the weight of the unspoken tension between everyone seemed to grow. I caught glimpses of the others exchanging looks. Namjoon, as always, was the calm one, but I could see the gears turning in his mind. Jin had a slight frown, a sign he was quietly contemplating something. Hoseok and Jimin stayed close together, a little too quiet for their usual bubbly selves. And Taehyung—Taehyung seemed distant like he was waiting for the right moment to confront one of us.
Jungkook walked behind the group, his eyes flicking between Yoongi and me. I could feel his suspicion, like a weight on my shoulders. He had always been perceptive, and it wouldn't surprise me if he had picked up on more than the others. But whatever thoughts they were all harboring, they remained unsaid for now.
When we reached the hotel, I could feel the exhaustion pulling me down, but my mind was too wired to relax. We all shuffled into the lobby, waiting for our room keys, and I couldn't help but glance at Yoongi. He was avoiding eye contact, staring at the floor with his usual calm demeanor, but I knew better. He was just as anxious as I was.
The group slowly dispersed to their respective rooms, but just as Yoongi was about to head to his, Namjoon called out to him.
"Yoongi, can we talk?" Namjoon's voice was gentle but firm. It wasn't a question; it was a statement.
Yoongi paused, his eyes flicking over to me briefly before nodding. "Yeah, sure," he replied, his voice steady, but he was preparing for whatever was coming next.
The rest of the boys had gathered by Namjoon, forming a loose circle. They all seemed tense, their usual easygoing attitudes replaced by something more serious.
"Yoongi," Namjoon started, his tone calm but direct, "we've all noticed something...off. For a while now. And we didn't want to jump to conclusions, but...we need to know. Is there something going on between you and Y/N?"
The question hung in the air like a heavy cloud. Yoongi shifted uncomfortably, his hand running through his hair as he glanced between the boys.
"I...I don't know what you mean," Yoongi replied, though his voice lacked conviction.
