Page 1-3: Saying Goodbye to Miyu and Haruka

The chapter opens with Kai, Miyu, and Haruka standing at the train station, ready to head home after their day out. The evening sky is fading into night, with streetlights flickering on as the station becomes quieter.

Haruka (waving):
"Bye, guys! Today was so fun! Let’s do it again sometime!"

Miyu (smiling):
"Take care, Haruka! I’ll see you at school."

Kai stands silently beside Miyu, offering a small wave as Haruka boards her train. The mood is light, though Kai feels an inexplicable weight growing inside him.

Miyu (to Kai):
"Thanks for coming today. I know it was probably a lot for you, but... I’m really glad you came."

Kai nods, trying to push down the odd sense of dread that’s been creeping up on him ever since they parted ways with Haruka.

Kai (softly):
"Yeah... thanks for inviting me."

Their train arrives, they get in and they sit in silence. Miyu looks at Kai and she gives a gentle smile enjoying the peace of the evening. As the train departs, Kai looks at her enjoying the silence. He smiles realizing that he indeed had fun.

Page 4-6: Walking Home

After dropping Miyu at her place, Kai walks home alone. The streets are quiet, illuminated by the dim glow of streetlights. The farther he walks, the more uneasy he feels. There’s an unnatural stillness in the air, like the world is holding its breath.

Kai (internal monologue):
“Something feels... off. Why do I feel this way? It’s just been a long day. I’m probably overthinking.”

He quickens his pace, the growing sense of dread tightening in his chest. His house comes into view, and he notices that none of the lights are on.

Kai (internal monologue):
“Mom should be home by now... the lights should be on.”

He reaches the front door, his heart racing as he unlocks it and steps inside. The house is pitch dark, silent except for his own breathing.

Kai flips on the hallway light, calling out for his mother.

Kai (calling out):
"Mom? I’m home."

No response.

He feels his stomach twist. The house feels empty, wrong. He walks down the hallway, turning on lights as he goes, searching each room, but the unsettling silence follows him everywhere.

Kai (internal monologue):
“She’s probably just asleep... maybe she’s out. But... why do I feel like this?”

He reaches his mother’s bedroom door, his hand trembling as he reaches for the knob. Slowly, he pushes the door open, and the dim light from the hallway spills into the room.

The scene in his mother’s bedroom is dark and still, her figure barely visible on the bed. At first, Kai’s breath catches in his throat. He steps closer, his heart pounding in his ears. Something isn’t right.

Kai (shaky whisper):
"Mom?"

He moves closer to the bed, and the cold reality hits him like a freight train. His mother is lying unnaturally still, her face pale, lifeless. The sheets are perfectly arranged, as if she had prepared for this moment.

Kai stumbles back, his mind refusing to accept what he’s seeing. His breath comes in sharp gasps, panic gripping his chest.

Kai (desperately):
"No... no, no, no!"

His hands shake as he reaches out to touch her, but her skin is cold to the touch. A wave of nausea and disbelief washes over him as he collapses onto his knees beside the bed, his entire world shattering around him.

Page 13-15: The Note

Through blurry vision, Kai notices a piece of paper on the nightstand, folded neatly and placed beside a bottle of pills. His trembling hand reaches for it, and as he unfolds the note, the weight of his mother’s last words sink in.

The note reads:

"Kai, I’m sorry. I couldn’t keep going. I tried, but the pain was too much. Please don’t blame yourself. You’ve always been so strong, but I couldn’t be the mother you deserved. I love you, my sweet boy. Please, take care of yourself.
Mom"

Kai reads the words over and over, his mind spinning, unable to comprehend what’s happened. His mother’s suicide feels like a dagger to his heart, the weight of her pain crushing him. Everything feels unreal, like a nightmare he can’t wake up from.

Page 16-18: Breaking Down

Kai drops the note, his body trembling violently. The realization that he’s alone—truly alone—crashes over him like a tidal wave. He tries to stand but stumbles back onto the floor, gasping for breath as sobs wrack his body.

Kai (internal monologue, screaming inside):
“Why... why did this happen? Why didn’t I see it? She was suffering, and I didn’t even notice... I was too focused on myself. How could she leave me like this?!”

Tears stream down his face as he punches the floor in frustration, his grief and anger boiling over. His heart pounds uncontrollably, each beat a painful reminder of his own fragile existence.

Kai (internal monologue):
“I can’t... I can’t do this anymore. I don’t know how to keep going.”

He clutches his chest, feeling the familiar pressure of his heart device. The weight of his mother’s death, combined with his own uncertain future, feels unbearable. In this moment, Kai’s world is consumed by darkness, and he’s left to face it all alone.
