Introduction:

Chapter 12 continues from where the previous chapter left off, focusing on Miyu's decision to stay with Kai for the night to take care of him. Miyu and Haruka are still processing the shock of Kai’s revelation, but Miyu’s concern for Kai grows deeper as she witnesses the fragility of his emotional and physical state.

Page 1-3: The Decision to Stay

After Kai’s emotional breakdown, the room falls into a heavy, contemplative silence. Kai is still resting against Miyu, his breathing slowly calming, though the pain in his heart remains.

Miyu (internal monologue):
“He’s been through so much... How can I just leave him like this?”

She glances at Haruka, who’s still sitting in the living room, wide-eyed and overwhelmed by everything they’ve just learned. Haruka isn’t as close to Kai, and her shock has left her unsure of what to do. Miyu, however, makes a silent decision.

Miyu (softly to Kai):
"I’m going to stay here with you tonight, okay? I’ll take care of you."

Kai’s expression is weary, and he doesn’t respond. He doesn’t have the energy to argue, and deep down, the idea of having someone there with him brings a sliver of comfort he didn’t realize he needed.

Miyu gently helps Kai lie down on his bed, tucking the blanket around him. His face is pale, his body still trembling from the emotional toll of the day. She notices the uneaten food and water on his desk and realizes that he hasn’t been taking care of himself for days.

Miyu (internal monologue, determined):
“He needs to eat something. He hasn’t taken care of himself at all... I can’t let him keep going like this.”

She quietly leaves the room, walking to the kitchen, and prepares something simple—a bowl of rice and some soup. Haruka watches her, still shaken by everything.

Haruka (quietly):
"Is he... going to be okay?"

Miyu gives her a small, reassuring smile, though worry still lingers in her eyes.

Miyu (softly):
"I don’t know. But I’ll stay with him tonight. He needs someone... and I can’t leave him like this."

Back in Kai’s room, Miyu sits by his bedside, holding the bowl of soup. She gently nudges him awake.

Miyu (gently):
"Hey, you need to eat something. You haven’t eaten in days."

Kai’s eyes flutter open, and he looks at the food, clearly too exhausted to care. But Miyu insists, her voice soft but firm.

Miyu (softly):
"Please, Kai. Just a little. For me?"

Kai reluctantly sits up, and Miyu carefully feeds him a few spoonfuls of the soup. It’s a simple, almost childlike gesture, but it brings a warmth to the moment. Kai’s body is still weak from the emotional and physical toll of everything, but he starts to eat.

Kai (quietly, defeated):
"Why are you doing this...?"

Miyu (gently):
"Because I care about you. And I don’t want you to suffer alone."

Kai’s eyes well up again, but he doesn’t say anything. He quietly eats the food Miyu offers, his heart feeling heavy but slightly less alone.

Page 10-12: Haruka’s Distance

Meanwhile, in the living room, Haruka sits on the couch, staring at the floor. The shock of learning about Kai’s mother and seeing Kai so vulnerable weighs heavily on her.

Haruka (internal monologue, shaken):
“I never imagined... he was going through this much. I didn’t think he had so much pain inside him...”

She feels out of place, unsure of how to help. Haruka isn’t as close to Kai as Miyu is, and she can’t quite find the words to express her feelings. All she can do is sit in silence, waiting for the night to pass.

Page 13-15: The Next Morning – Grandparents Arrive

The next morning, there’s a knock on the door, breaking the quiet of the house. Miyu gently shakes Kai awake, who had managed to sleep a little through the night.

Miyu (softly):
"Kai, someone’s at the door."

Kai rubs his eyes, still groggy and emotionally drained. He slowly gets out of bed, and Miyu helps him down the stairs. When they open the door, they’re met by the sight of Kai’s grandparents, who have arrived after hearing the news about his mother.

Grandmother (worried):
"Kai... how are you holding up, dear?"

Kai says nothing, his face pale, his emotions still too raw. His grandparents step inside, their expressions a mixture of sorrow and concern. They embrace him tightly, but even in their warmth, Kai feels a strange distance, like he’s slipping further away from reality.

Page 16-18: Kai’s Heart Condition

As the morning progresses, the weight of everything begins to take a toll on Kai’s fragile health. His heart condition, already a constant source of pain, begins to act up. He feels a sharp, stabbing pain in his chest, and his face pales even further.

Kai (grimacing, clutching his chest):
"Ugh..."

Miyu (alarmed):
"Kai?! What’s wrong?"

Kai stumbles, the pain overwhelming him. Miyu rushes to his side, her heart pounding with fear.

Kai (strained):
"My... my heart... it hurts..."

Grandmother (panicking):
"Call an ambulance! Now!"

Miyu tries to support Kai as he gasps for breath, the pain intensifying with every passing second. Tears well up in her eyes as she watches him suffer, her own heart aching for him.

Miyu (internal monologue, distressed):
“How much more does he have to go through? This isn’t fair... He’s been through so much already...”

Kai’s vision begins to blur, and his body grows weaker. He collapses into Miyu’s arms, his breath shallow, his heart pounding irregularly.

Page 19-20: Miyu’s Resolve

As they wait for help to arrive, Miyu holds Kai close, refusing to let him go. Tears stream down her face as she whispers to him, trying to keep him conscious.

Miyu (whispering, fiercely):
"You can’t leave us, Kai. You can’t leave me. I’m here... I’ll always be here. Please, just hold on."

Kai’s eyes flutter, his body trembling as the pain in his chest intensifies. But somewhere deep inside, the sound of Miyu’s voice anchors him, keeping him from slipping away entirely.

When the help arrived, they rushed him to the hospital and after a few hours of checkup and medication, Kai was finally sent home.

Chapter End

In Chapter 12, Miyu’s decision to stay with Kai shows her growing attachment and deep care for him, while Kai’s health takes a turn for the worse. The introduction of Kai’s grandparents adds a new layer of emotional weight, as they step in to support him after the loss of his mother. However, Kai’s heart condition becomes a central focus of the chapter, with Miyu witnessing just how fragile his life is. This chapter marks a pivotal moment in their relationship, as Miyu begins to understand the full scope of Kai’s suffering and becomes even more determined to be there for him, no matter how difficult things become.
