Kinn’s teasing was relentless. I shot him a glare so sharp he immediately zipped his mouth, raising his hands in surrender.

Before I could even sit down, Thankhun appeared behind me, resting his hand dramatically on my shoulder, his signature smirk firmly in place.

"Alright, jokes aside," he said, bursting into an exaggerated laugh.

"Let’s get real. Time for a test—one that’ll prove whether or not you’re in love!"

I looked at him with a deadpan expression.

"What are you, a high schooler?" I muttered, unimpressed. But Thankhun just rolled his eyes, unbothered, and flopped down on the couch as if it were a throne.

Kinn, who was still clearly enjoying the show, leaned forward, his eyes practically sparkling with excitement.

"Hey, don’t knock it till you try it, Vegas. These tests are scientifically proven—okay, maybe not, but they’re fun!"

I raised an eyebrow, my skepticism clear.

"And what makes you think you’re qualified to administer these so-called ‘tests?’"

Thankhun shrugged, waving his hand dismissively.

"I’ve watched enough rom-coms kdramas to know the signs." He leaned in with an exaggerated air of seriousness, pointing his finger dramatically.

"Now come on, let’s get started. Test number one: Do you think about him all the time?"

I opened my mouth to deny it, but then a memory hit me—Pete laughing with Macau in the kitchen while cooking for him, the way he pouted when Macau playfully smeared cream on his face. I couldn’t help it, he looked so cute. I remembered how I had watched him longer than I should have, how even when I was supposed to be focused on other things, his face kept popping into my head.

I sighed, unable to hide it any longer. "Fine," I muttered. "Maybe. A little."

Kinn immediately whooped, pumping his fist into the air like he’d just won a prize.

"I knew it! You’re totally in love!"

I glared at him, trying to shut him down before he got any more ideas.

Thankhun leaned back dramatically, throwing a hand over his forehead like he was in the middle of a soap opera.

"Oh god save that poor soul, you're definitely in love. I can’t wait to see how this disaster unfolds."

I clenched my jaw, trying to hold back my irritation. "You two have no idea what you’re talking about."

Thankhun ignored my protests and continued, his voice dripping with mock sincerity.

"Test number two: When you’re around them, do you feel like your heart speeds up? Maybe get a little... flustered?"

I tried to scoff, but another memory crept in—Pete, trembling beneath my hands as I hugged him in the middle of that night. His breathing uneven, my heart pounding in my chest in response, faster than I had ever felt before. The heat of his body, the way I hadn’t wanted to let him go...

I leaned back, hoping my expression gave nothing away.

"I don’t get flustered," I lied.

But Thankhun’s grin widened. "Oh really? So you’ve never lost your cool around this person? Not even once?"

Memories of Pete’s soft whimpers and the way he’d begged for forgiveness surfaced. My grip on the armrest tightened, my mind flashing back to how I’d impulsively kissed him just to shut him up—to stop his trembling, to make the moment freeze.
