Pete's POV

He suddenly pulled away, eyes wide with surprise, like he hadn’t realized what he’d just done. I blinked, trying to process the moment, my heart still pounding from the closeness.

"I'm sorry, Khun Vegas—" I began, eager to apologize, but he cut me off.

"Don’t… it’s not your fault," he said, his voice softer than I’d ever heard before. "I wasn’t paying attention. It’s my fault. Don’t worry about it."

Relief washed over me, but I was still on edge. Was this the same Khun Vegas who usually spoke in clipped, cold tones? Before I could wrap my head around it, he asked, "By the way, what are you doing here?"

I scratched the back of my neck, feeling awkward. "I-I finished my work early, and I was… getting bored so.. I thought I’d look around." I admitted, hoping I didn’t sound too casual about it.

He looked a bit puzzled at first, but then, to my surprise, his expression shifted. His eyes lit up with excitement, and his voice became almost playful. "So, are you free right now?"

I blinked at the sudden change in his demeanor, unsure of how to respond. "Y-yeah, I’m free," I said, still processing how fast things were shifting.

Khun Vegas smiled, an actual smile that made my stomach twist. "Would you mind if I take you somewhere?"

I hesitated, uncertain of what to say. "K-Khun Vegas, you don’t need to ask my permission for anything. You’re my boss. You can just tell me to go with you."

For a moment, something flickered in his eyes—hurt? Why would he look like that?

His tone softened even more. "Umm, then… let’s go," he said.

He stood and reached out his hand, helping me to my feet. His touch lingered for just a moment longer than it should have. Without another word, he gently pulled me along with him toward his car.

I couldn’t shake the feeling of disbelief as he led me outside. He gestured for the driver to step away, saying he’d drive himself. The bodyguard nodded silently and left without question, leaving us alone.

When Khun Vegas walked around the car and opened the passenger door for me, I froze, stunned. I couldn’t hide my shock. Why would he open the door for me? Wasn’t I just a slave?

"Get in," he said softly, motioning toward the seat. His eyes didn’t hold their usual hardness. I hesitated for a moment, then slowly slid into the passenger seat, feeling completely out of place.

As soon as I sat down, he shut the door gently and walked around to the driver’s side. He started the car, the low hum of the engine filling the silence between us. I kept my hands in my lap, nervously fiddling with my fingers.

We pulled away from the mansion, the world outside a blur as the car moved smoothly down the road.

Khun Vegas didn’t say much at first, just kept his eyes on the road, but there was something in the air between us—something that made my pulse quicken.

Finally, after what felt like forever, I couldn’t take the silence anymore.

"Where… where are we going?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

He glanced at me from the corner of his eye, his expression unreadable.

"Somewhere quiet," he replied. "I want to show you something."

I glanced over at Pete, who was gazing out the window, his expression a mix of curiosity and confusion. A small smile tugged at my lips.
