something is wrong

The shrill ring of my phone jolted me awake. I groaned, squeezing my eyes shut in frustration. Blindly reaching for the phone on the nightstand, I grabbed it, careful not to disturb the small, warm figure clinging to me like a koala.

"Khun Vegas, Khun Win is here," Nop's voice filtered through the line the moment I answered, not even bothering to check the caller ID.

Win. What the hell is he doing here this early in the morning? I rubbed my eyes, irritation bubbling under my skin.

"Tell him to wait for me in the meeting room," I muttered, cutting the call before Nop could reply.

I sighed, ready to get up, but the soft grip around my waist tightened. I glanced down to see Pete, his brows furrowed in sleep as he mumbled something in his alien language again. A soft smile tugged at my lips despite myself.

"Cute," I murmured, brushing a few strands of hair from his forehead before pressing a kiss there. His cheeks were slightly flushed, probably from the warmth of the blanket.

"Baby, let me go," I whispered gently, attempting to untangle myself from his hold.

"No… sleep. I want cuddle,"he mumbled, his voice groggy and muffled against my chest. I froze for a second, blinking in disbelief. Did he just say that?

My lips curled into a grin. He’s definitely still half-asleep. No way he’d say that if he was awake. I know how shy he is.

"You want to cuddle with me, baby?" I teased, my voice low and playful.

He gave a slow, drowsy nod, his arms tightening around me.

God, how am I supposed to leave now?

I sighed, torn between staying in bed with him and dealing with the headache known as Win. My fingers brushed down his back, feeling the rise and fall of his soft breaths. I really want to stay, baby, but that idiot had to show up today of all days.

"I’ll cuddle with you later, okay baby? I have some work to do," I whispered, pressing another kiss to his forehead.

To my surprise, he let go. My gaze softened as I glanced at him, his face relaxed once more, lips slightly parted in sleep. He looked so at peace. My chest ached in a way I couldn't quite name.

I leaned in and planted kisses on both his cheeks, his nose, and finally his forehead. "Sleep tight, baby," I murmured before forcing myself to leave the warmth of the bed.

After freshening up in the bathroom and getting dressed, I headed to the third floor where the meeting room was located. As I walked in, I spotted Win lounging on the couch, sipping his coffee like he owned the place. His legs were crossed casually, his face wearing that smug grin I hated.

The moment I stepped in, one of the maids appeared with my black coffee. I sat across from Win, taking the mug and raising it to my lips.

One sip, and I paused. This is… better than usual. I glanced at the mug, then it clicked. Pete didn’t make it today. I chuckled softly.

"What are you doing here so early in the morning?" I asked, my eyes narrowing as I leaned back in my chair, cup in hand.

Win tilted his head, giving me that infuriating smirk of his. "Man, last time you disappeared in the middle of our meeting, so I figured I'd just bring the meeting to you."

My jaw clenched. Of course, he did.

"You couldn't have called first?" I muttered, taking another sip of coffee.

"You know I love giving people surprises," he said with a shrug, eyes gleaming with mischief.

I set my mug down with a little too much force, the sharp clink echoing through the quiet room. My eyes locked on him, cold and unyielding. He raised his hands in mock surrender, still grinning like a fool.
