Kat adjusted herself to sit more comfortably next to Rachel while her brother talked about his day at work.
"...Couldn't enjoy a cup of noodles after that. Is that ridiculous? Can you believe she actually thought that?"
"Um... yeah." Rachel said, Kat took a sip of tea. "Well, I mean when I first met you, y'know, I thought maybe, possibly, you might be..."
"You did?" Kat and Chandler asked at the same time.
"Yeah, but then you spent Phoebe's entire birthday party talking to my breasts, so then I figured maybe not."
"Huh." Chandler shifted so he could see the rest of the friends more easily. "Did, uh... any of the rest of you guys think that when you first met me?"
"I did." Monica spoke up.
"Yeah, I think so, yeah." Phoebe added.
"Not me." Joey defended.
"No no, me neither. Although, uh, y'know, back in college, uh, Susan Sallidor did." Ross said.
"You're kidding! Did you tell her I wasn't?"
"No. No, it's just 'cause, uh, I kinda wanted to go out with her too, so I told her, actually, you were seeing Bernie Spellman... who also liked her, so..."
Kat cackled and Chandler looked at her.
"Me?" Kat asked in mock-shock. "Absolutely. When I was a newborn babe and you first held me in your young child arms, I thought that you were gay."
Chandler rolled his eyes at her, then turned back to address his problem. "Well, this is fascinating. So, uh, what is it about me?"
"I dunno," Phoebe responded, "'cause you're smart, you're funny..."
"Ross is smart and funny," Chandler shot, "d'you ever think that about him?"
"Yeah! Right!"
"WHAT IS IT?!" Chandler demanded.
"Okay," Monica tried. "I-I d'know, you-you just- you have a quality."
"Yes. Absolutely. A quality." Everyone, minus Kat, agreed.
"Oh, oh, a quality, good, because I was worried you guys were gonna be vague about this. Well, this is fascinating. So, uh, what is it about me?"
Before Chandler's question could get answered, the phone rang and Monica stood up to answer it.
"Hello? Hello? Oh! Rachel, it's Paolo calling from Rome."
Rachel practically jumped off the couch. Kat had to move her plate to avoid it getting knocked out of her hands.
"Oh my God! Calling from Rome!" She took the phone from Monica and begun speaking Italian to it.
Ross turned to Joey and remarked, "So he's calling from Rome. I could do that. Just gotta go to Rome." Kat rolled her eyes.
"Monica, your dad just beeped in, but can you make it quick? Talking to Rome." She turned to Phoebe, Kat and Chandler, "I'm talking to Rome."
Monica took the phone back from her roommate and answered it, "Hey dad, what's up?" She listened then turned to her brother. "Oh God. Ross, it's Nana."
---
That night, while Rachel worked her shift, and Monica and Ross were at the hospital, Kat sat with her friends and brother at Central Perk while Chandler tried to figure out what the "quality" he possessed was.
"I just have to know, okay. Is it my hair?"
"Yes, Chandler." Rachel sounded exhausted from his pestering, "that's exactly what it is. It's your hair."
