"Sigh..." For the three hundred and tenth time these few days, I heaved a sigh. Although we had defeated the Dark Wolf Mercenary Corps and ascended to third place in the rankings, the reputation that followed also brought more tasks to our Alchemy Mercenary Corps. But that was just a small concern. The real problem lay with the side effects of the forbidden spell—I finally understood its aftermath. It was that my magic power still hadn't recovered. According to Eilord, it could be an entire month before I could use magic again.
Oh heavens, for a mage like me, not being able to use magic for a whole month is excruciating. If only my magic level had been higher, I wouldn't be dealing with these consequences from casting a forbidden spell. Still, I hope that with enough rest, I can recover sooner. I had felt dissatisfied with these aftereffects, but after hearing Eilord explain that some mages suffered worse, even losing the ability to cast magic altogether, I realized I was actually quite fortunate.
However, my worry isn't only about this—it's also about Yakh. Before our duel with the Dark Wolf Mercenary Corps, I told Yakh to stay far away for safety. Yet after everything settled, I couldn't find him anywhere. All that was left was a rabbit doll in the depths of the forest—the very doll I had made for him by hand. Since I treated him like a younger brother, naturally, I wanted to give him a gift. I had made that doll out of boredom, and Yakh loved it, keeping it close to him all the time. But now, as I look for him, all I find is that doll. Yakh, where could you be?
I sighed once more. If only I hadn't let him leave in the first place and had kept him by my side, maybe he wouldn't have gone missing like this. I haven't fulfilled my responsibility as an older sister at all.
"Lisa, stop sighing already." Digal's head popped into my line of sight. "I believe Yakh will be just fine!"
I forced a smile. "I hope so too. But, have Lansius and the others returned?"
Digal shook his head. "They're still searching around the forest." He looked out the window. "But it looks like they should be back soon."
I followed Digal's gaze to the window. "I hope they find Yakh. He must be safe."
"Oh, Lisa, trust me on this one! I'm sure we'll find Yakh. You just need to stay hopeful!" Digal shook his short, fiery-red hair, glowing in the light of the crimson sky, making him look quite radiant.
