The Grievance

It was a week after the fight with Sun, and Solar, Eclipse, Ruin, Earth, and Lunar were all sitting around the house silently. Solar was sitting in the lab, he was trying to fix Moon who was laid down on a table nearby. It was silent, the only sound was of tears hitting paper, Solar put his head down onto the table below him as he silently sobbed. He had been working non stop to try and bring Moon back, but his work was no use.

A knock was heard from the lab door, Solar quickly sat up and wiped his tears off his face. The door slowly opened, Earth stood at the entrance.

"Solar? Hey, I brought you some food." She took a few steps in and set the food at the table, and couldn't help but notice the old food from that week dumped into the trash only slightly hidden by crumpled pieces of paper... uneaten

"Th-thanks Earth..." Solar said weekly, his voice slightly cracking, and avoiding eye contact.

"... have you been crying?" Earth asked quietly, taking another step forward and reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder but retracting it immediately when he shifted. She noticed the drops that soaked through the paper, her heart sinking.

"No-" Solar said in a small croak, still avoiding eye contact.

"Do you need a hug?" She asked him, He looked up at her. His eyes were full of deep sadness.

"Yes." Solar's voice cracked as Earth took another step, bending down a bit to wrap her arms around him.

Eclipse was reading a book and Ruin was sitting on the couch cuddling with him, Lunar was sitting on his beanbag playing on the switch quietly. Earth walked out from the hallway, getting the attention of Ruin. Solar coming out after him, the way he walked in a sluggish and hunched way, his eyes sagged and refusing to look up.

"Guys-" Earth started with a small voice but hiced and covered her mouth looking down, tears starting to stream down. Solar looked away from where she was standing, reaching his hand up to hold his arm. Lunar finally looked up from his game.

"M-moons gone." His words shakily sliding out as small tears started to form from his bloodshot eyes, he collapsed onto the ground. Ruin sitting up, his body starting to shake as the news started to set in. He turned to look at the ground.

"No- NO NO NO! IT'S NOT TRUE! PLEASE!! PLEASE! I'M BEGGING YOU! SOLAR..." Ruin yelled, getting up and takinging a step towards Solar, immediately taking it back as Solar started to sob.

"Solar... please-" He said walking over and collapsing in front of him, taking his shoulders and bringing Solar into a hug. The two crying on the ground, Earth moving closer to the two to join into the hug. Eclipse got up not knowing what to do, he looked at Lunar who was looking at Solar and Ruin like he had just seen a ghost. He started to get up, Eclipse walked over to him and bent down, wrapping his arms around Lunar who was starting to cry.

About a week later

It was raining outside, underneath a tree in one of the parks Solar and Moon had helped create in one of their villages. Everyone is wearing black, and umbrellas up. Newly churned dirt in the shape of a rectangle, the silent sound of rain hitting the ground and objects around, and the sound of quiet sobbing from people and animatronics around. Monty walked forward from the crowd, he was without an umbrella.

"Moon was my best friend, and- he helped me through a lot of things..." He started, his voice cracking showing the restraint as to not start crying.

"A-and he did a lot of amazing things in his life... a-and he- he did so much for all of us. S-sorry. Please forgive me-" Monty quickly moved away from the front of the crowd, he gripped his chest as he started to sprint away, Earth quickly running after him, dropping her umbrella. Solar walked forward, his eyes clouded and sad.

"Uhm. Moon was my- my partner, he was also my very best friend... and the first person to invite me into anything like a family..." He had a small hic, everyone could tell he was trying his hardest to not cry.

"He showed a lot of us through so many hard times- a-and. We all appreciated his works, and inventions~ His plans and ways he fought for us~ the way he helped us create new life from the ruins of what Eclipse had rained upon us. He always took on the problems of our lives, and he took on our emotions and angers that we threw at him... he cared so much about everyone... and the day I watched him h-hit the ground. I- I'm sorry- I can't do this right now..." Solar looked at the basket of ferns that sat near the dirt.

"Let us say our goodbyes." He said quietly, the first group of people stepped forward and started to grab a fern, one each and placing them down in random places on his grave.

Solar walked away, Ruin taking notice and stepping away from the crowd to follow him.

"Solar" He began, Solar stopped and turned around.

"Ruin is so sorry- I- I'm SORRY!" He fell to the ground, the rain pouring down against his back and soaking into his clothing. Ruin ran forward and grabbed him, pulling him close.

"It's not your fault! No- It's no one's fault!" Ruin pulled Solar away from him and looked into his eyes.

"Don't blame yourself! Because It was never your fault, no one will ever make it yours~ we are all sorry and sad it happened... and- we will not let it take advantage of us! Please! Don't give up~" Ruin said, his tears and the rain hitting his cheeks turning into a mixed stream. Solar just stared up at him, he looked down and chuckled sadly.

"You're right~ I'm sorry, l-let's just get back home." Solar said as he forced Ruin to let go of him, standing up and turning away.

Ruin stood up and held his arms, starting to realize how cold he was and started to shiver. After a few minutes he couldn't feel the rain anymore and looked up to see an umbrella above him, turning his head to see Eclipse. His face was covered in soft concern, he stepped closer and Ruin shoved himself against him with tears.
