Concussed and Such

I felt something cold poking at my neck. I couldn't quite tell what it was. I couldn't see anything except the deep endless nothingness behind my eyelids.

"Emmett stop touching her, you'll make her cold."

"Do you think she's hungry? I got a burger for her."

"We can ask her when she wakes up."

When I came to I was in a room I didn't recognize full of voices I didn't recognize. To be fair though, everything was hazy for a while. My head was pounding and I couldn't help but cry in pain. I just wanted the pain to stop.

"I think she's awake now. Can I offer her the burger now?"

"She's in pain."

"Should we get a nurse?"

My eyes slowly opened, revealing that I was in a very bright room. The lights made me feel sick. I groaned and covered my eyes with my hands.

Emmett peeled my hands away from my face, causing me to groan in displeasure. "Hello? Can you hear us?"

"Aspen, are you okay?" Alice stood over me with a concerned look on her face.

I shook my head. "No, I'm not okay. My head is pounding. Where the hell am I?"

"The hospital. You hit your head pretty hard." Emmett explained.

I looked around, I was in fact lying in a hospital bed. "But... I didn't do anything. James threw me into the wall."

Alice grabbed my hand. Her hand was extremely cold but I couldn't bring myself to complain. "Do you remember everything that happened?"

"Yeah, it's all coming to me," I remembered the gist of what happened. I remembered that I was instructed to stay in the hotel so I left the room but stayed in the lobby. Unfortunately, I was found by James. Everything in between the time he led me to the room and threw me against the wall was fuzzy. I was positive that it would come back to me eventually.

"We told the doctors that Bella tripped and fell down the stairs and she accidentally took you down with her," Alice told me.

I couldn't see how anyone would believe that lie but I didn't have enough energy to question it. My head still hurt like a bitch. "What's wrong with my head? Do I have a concussion or something?"

"Yeah, you were evaluated a while ago and you were diagnosed with a concussion. And your hand injury got worse." Emmett said.

I looked down at my hand and it was wrapped up tightly in a cast. "Wouldn't they have to wait until I woke up to evaluate me?"

Emmett nodded. "You were awake earlier but you weren't exactly coherent."

"I'm really sorry, Aspen. I shouldn't have left you-" Alice apologized. I could tell she felt awful about the situation.

"You didn't know what would happen," I assured her. If anything I was the one to blame. "It's my fault for leaving the room."

"He would've found you regardless if you stayed put. He really wanted to hurt you." Emmett pointed out. Alice and I looked at him silently. He cleared his throat and held up a bag of food, I presumed. "Are you hungry?"

I declined, immediately. "The thought of eating makes me nauseous but thanks."

"Is there anything I can get you? What can I do to make you feel better?" Alice asked.

"Ask me again when there aren't people around." I could think of a few things Alice could do. Granted it was a bit hard to think.

Alice rolled her eyes. "I'm serious, Aspen."
