There's a present at the end of this chapter. 👀

I had no idea what I had walked into, but I immediately regretted entering the bathroom. For some reason, Angela and Jessica were in there snickering amongst themselves.
I had been looking for them for a few minutes, but one glance at Jessica's eyes and I knew I had made a grave mistake.
"Shh! Get in here and close the door!" She ordered. I followed her orders, but not quickly enough to her liking. "Jeez, could you be any slower, Turtle?"
I rolled my eyes. I didn't come to be mocked or made fun of. I came to see my friends whom I hadn't seen in a year. "I missed you, too, Jess."
Angela pulled me into a warm and totally dramatic hug. "I missed you, Aspen. You haven't answered my calls in two weeks."
"I'm sorry. I've been busy with finals." I apologized. I hadn't meant to ignore Angela or anyone, really, but I had been studying for hours on end. I barely had time to eat or sleep.
"How is it? Being in college?" Angela asked.
"Community college." I corrected her. I decided to take my parents' advice and graduate early. But that left me with the difficult decision of what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
After being stuck in the Phoenix hospital, I had an affinity towards nurses, so I decided to become a nurse. I wasn't ready to go to a university, but I figured getting some prerequisites out of the way wouldn't hurt.
"You're a nursing major. It's still difficult, no?" Angela asked. I nodded. Science classes were kicking my ass. "I've decided to be a journalism major. I'd rather die than spend the rest of my academic career studying something I hate."
Jessica rolled her low red eyes. "Journalism is dying, Ang. Maybe you should pick something practical, like engineering."
I laughed. I would've never expected Jessica to want to major in engineering. "You... an engineering major?" I would've pegged her as an English major.
Jessica scoffed. "What, like it's hard?"
"Aspen, since you're here, can I ask you a question?" Angela asked.
"Sure." I shrugged.
Angela looked at Jessica before continuing to talk. "Jessica and I are having a debate, and your answer could help settle it."
I was automatically on Angela's side before hearing the question. She was my favorite of the two, and she was almost always right.
"We don't know if she would tell the truth," Jessica said.
"But she's our friend." Angela defended me.
"She's Bella's sister. That trumps friends. I'd lie for my sister even though I hate her ass." Jessica said.
I grimaced. Bella and I were not sisters. In my opinion, calling us friends would be a stretch, but considering that I was a bridesmaid, Bella felt differently. "We're not sisters. Our parents aren't married yet."
Hopefully, they never were.
I wasn't one of those delusional children; I didn't hold hope that one day my mother and father would get back together. But my mother was still an adulterer, and it wasn't right for her to be able to move on while my father hadn't. Especially not with the man she cheated with.
"Whatever." Jessica rolled her eyes. She didn't care for my semantics. "Is Isabella Swan pregnant or not? Since you're not related, you have no obligation to lie for her."
