Chapter 12

Weeks had passed since the day Levi and Enzo had their first hangout. And some would think that after that they'd stop, go their own respective ways. Follow the rules for once even... whoever thought that was an idiot. Levi and Enzo clicked, they connected in a way which the two had never connected with anyone else before. They'd go over to Enzo's base when Clem was out doing her duties and Maddie was just... being Maddie for the most part. They sat and talked for hours, from the late hours of the night, to the early hours of dawn. Then, Levi would always fall asleep in the same spot, Enzo's lap. Then, they'd wake up before Clem came back and Levi would rush out of Enzo's house to his job at the hero commission.

One thing Levi didn't account for with their nightly meeting every few nights was Maddie. Maddie was always worried sick and since the start of the boy's meeting, Levi and Maddie's relationship got tenser, and tenser, to the point where they weren't able to perform as well as they usually did on their missions, leading to further frustration and Levi's more frequent visits to Enzo's place.

Clementine was also suspicious. Taking in account of Maddie and her having a situation going on, she heard of everything. She'd also found traces of Levi around their base, like pieces of wavy blonde hair, and that one jacket that had been laid neatly across a chair for the past week or so. Both the girls felt annoyed and excluded. Knowing that their quality of living was also being affected but it seemed as if the boys had no regard for them. Ouch that one stung.

One night, Levi walked in from another of his late night hangouts with Enzo. When he entered, Maddie was standing right in front of the door with her arms crossed and a frown plastered on her face. Levi raised an eyebrow in mild confusion but spoke anyway. "Hey Mads... Why're you still up? You're usually still asleep by this time."

Instead of the level-headed, relatively calm Maddie he knew, he was responded with an accusatory bite, "Oh maybe I'd actually be asleep if you told me where the fuck you were instead of letting me worry all damn night?! Where the fuck have you bee going every week anyway?!"

Levi was taken aback by this, but he quickly regained his composure, "What? What're you talking about??" Maddie's eye twitched with Levi's response. "I know you know what I'm talking about! Where've you been going late at night for weeks!?" Maddie asked.

"Why do you care all of the sudden? I'm a grown ass man, I don't need you keeping tabs on me all the time, Madeline." Maddie was taken aback by the use of her actual name but Levi's response only made her more angry. "Levi what the hell?! I'm not trying to keep tabs on you, I'm just trying to make sure you're alright!" Their argument lasted for about 10 minutes before they both stormed off to their rooms. If their relationship wasn't already becoming tense, then now something was definitely tense between the two of them.
