Chapter 13

After Levi and Maddie's fight, Levi miraculously ended up at Enzo's...again. Enzo couldn't tell if he was there just to talk or to rant and complain, but either way he didn't mind.

"I don't know what's going on with her! One day she's happy go-lucky Maddie and the next she's all bitchy and annoying. I'm a grown ass man. I don't need to tell some kid where I'm going on my own freetime. Like what kinda bullshit is that? Eighteen years stuck with my son of a bitch of a father and I finally freed myself. Then I have some annoying ass seventeen year old to tell me where I can and can't go and when I can. Like I took her ass in and this is what I get?! I'm so fucking done-" Levi ranted before Enzo cut him off with a finger hovering over his lips.

"Woah there, slow down a bit before you suffocate. I get you're mad at Maddie but doesn't she kinda have a valid reason? You're a hero with tens of hundreds of enemies out late at night and she doesn't know where you are. Plus didn't you say her parents died in a fire or something? Maybe she's just afraid of losing you too...or some deep shit like that I dunno." Enzo said, trying to play off his brief moment of vulnerability.

The notion of being cut off by someone bothered Levi for some reason. He didn't like being talked over. His voice mattered the most and being cut off whilst he was a top hero. And don't even get him started on his dad. His dad owned a business. He could have everyone's job. Then he remembered... Enzo was a villain. Dammit.

Instead of continuing to plot against Enzo for cutting him off, rather rudely he might add. He proceeded to pout. Yes, like a child. A top hero was pouting. Makes you feel real safe for the future of the world, doesn't it?

Enzo sees the pout and his embarrassment turned into amusement. Seeing a hero that he had rivaled as his nemesis for so long pout like a child was amusing to him. Although the pout was kinda cute on him. Not like he'd ever admit that but it was true.

While Levi and Enzo continued speaking, Clem and Maddie were having the same conversation about the two heroes' lack of communication. Maddie was laid across Clem's lap with her eyes red, fresh from crying. She'd never admit it but what Levi said really hurt her and for the past hour she'd been venting to Clem about it. Not once did Clem interrupt or judge her, she'd been quiet the whole time just listening to Maddie, trying to support and cheer her up in any way she could. The scene in front of her was rarely seen. Maddie never opened up, not to mention crying?? If Levi wasn't important to Maddie, Clem would've killed him herself... but if she did Maddie would be upset and that was no fun.
