"You promise you'll stop selling this shit!" I yelled, slamming my fist on the worn kitchen table, the small bag of drugs crumpling beneath my palm like a defeated promise.



Ryan's expression remained impassive, his eyes glinting with amusement as he took a lazy sip from his beer bottle.



"It's just weed, (y/n)," he drawled, his tone dripping with condescension. The words stung, but I refused to back down.



"You promised," I repeated, my voice trembling like autumn leaves in a gust of wind.


Ryan's gaze never wavered, his eyes cold and calculating. "Stop being dramatic," he said, his voice a low, patronizing growl. The words sliced through me like a rusty blade, leaving me breathless and battered.

I felt the tears well up, hot and unstoppable, as I wiped them away with the back of my hand. The saltiness stung my skin, a bitter reminder of the lies and broken promises.


I snatched my jacket from the hook, the worn leather creaking in protest as I shrugged it on. "I can't deal with this right now," I muttered, my voice barely audible over the turmoil brewing inside. Ryan's eyes narrowed, his brow furrowing in annoyance.



"Where the fuck are you going?" he yelled, his words echoing through the small apartment like a shot.


I grasped the door handle like a lifeline, my hand trembling as I wrenched it open. The cool night air enveloped me like a shroud, a fleeting respite from the suffocating tension within. I stepped out into the darkness, the city's neon lights blurring together like a watercolor painting.


As I slammed the door shut behind me, the sound reverberated through my chest, a hollow echo of the emptiness within. I didn't look back, I didn't dare. I knew what I'd see – Ryan's face twisted in rage, his eyes blazing with a fury that would soon boil over.
