"Oi, you want something?" Levi asked.
I shook my head as I looked outside the hospital window, my gaze drifting across the steel and concrete landscape. The city's sounds filtered in, a gentle hum of traffic, the wail of a distant siren, and the muted chatter of passersby. The sunlight cast a pale glow on the buildings, illuminating the tiny figures of people rushing to and fro.
Lost in thought, the hospital room's sterile scent and beeping machines faded into the background. My mind wandered to the world outside, to the lives being lived, the stories being told, and the memories being made. The glass pane separating me from the outside world seemed to vibrate with the pulse of the city, a reminder that life was moving forward, with or without me.
I turned to face Levi,
Despite his rough exterior, Levi's actions reveal a softer side. He's always been a bit of a mystery, his sharp tongue and piercing gaze intimidating to those who don't know him. But as I watch him now, his eyes fixed on the pages of his book, his expression a mask of calm, I see glimpses of the person beneath.
The way he carefully pours himself a cup of tea, his movements precise and deliberate. The way he glances up at me occasionally, his eyes searching for any sign of distress. The way he listens attentively to Hange's enthusiastic chatter, a slight smile playing on his lips.
It's these tiny moments that reveal Levi's true nature - a complex, multifaceted person with a soft spot for those he cares about. And as I lie here, surrounded by the beeping machines and sterile smells of the hospital, I'm grateful for his presence in my life.
It's been almost a week since I was admitted here, Levi has never left my side, he stays around silently reading books, drinking tea, and looking outside the window. Hange has been constantly visiting me along with Blake, her banter and laughter a welcome respite from the monotony of hospital life.
Hange's eyes sparkle with curiosity as she examines the various machines beeping around me, asking the nurses a million questions about my treatment.
Blake, on the other hand, is more subdued, his eyes filled with concern as he holds my hand, his touch warm and reassuring.
Levi, however, remains a constant, a silent sentinel watching over me as I heal. His eyes flicker towards me occasionally, his expression softening ever so slightly before he returns to his book.
The door slammed open and Hange walked in with a huge smile plastered on her face. "Guess what?!" she exclaimed, hardly containing her excitement. "The nurse just told me that you can leave the hospital in a few days!"
I smiled, feeling a surge of hope and relief. It was the first piece of good news I'd received since... well, since everything.
Levi, who had been quietly observing the exchange, placed his tea on the table and stood up. His expression was serious, his eyes narrowing slightly as he spoke. "You'll be coming home with us," he said, his voice firm but gentle. "At least until we find Ryan."
My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Ryan's name. I felt a familiar sense of dread creeping up my spine, but Levi's next words reassured me. "You're safe with me," he said, his eyes locked on mine. "I won't let anyone hurt you again."
Hange nodded vigorously in agreement, her smile still plastered on her face. "We've got your back!"
Thoughts crept into my mind like shadows, dark and foreboding. Levi's words echoed in my mind, his promise to find Ryan and...deal with him. I shuddered at the memory, my heart racing with a mix of emotions.
