I was walking through the woods when I hear a deep low growl behind me. I'm thinking to myself, nothing was there a moment ago, what is it then? I would have heard a twig snap, if there was something.

I'm starting to panic, oh great, animals can smell fear.

My back is still towards where the sound came from. I was reluctant to turn around, nothing is there. Geez I must be getting paranoid, why else, I must have imagine the sound.

You must be wondering why 16-year-old, I, Jewel Curtis am paranoid.

Well I may be an average height of 5'7", athletic, play volleyball in school. Along with dance after school. Also everyone at school tells me I'm pretty, and beautiful, but, yet I still don't believe it, sad I know. Even though I'm skinny compared to others. With natural blonde hair and bluish green eyed girl. I still feel fear.

Next, I'm a girl alone, in the middle of the woods. Creepy guys still stalk and creep me out. Also the warnings and stories about these woods. Frostling Woods is their name, sounds original, right.

Now you want to know the warnings, there is large wolves in the forest. Presumed in attacking humans, but no one has seen one. Stories are that the ancient Indians' spirits can change them into wolves. So werewolves, sounds like twilight, huh? So I might have been werewolf food, but in twilight, werewolves were protectors. I don't understand the world no more.

The reason why I'm in the Frostling Woods in the first place is because I'm taking a shortcut home. Yes, my house has a greater amount of land in the woods, but it is off of the main highway. Which I could use a vehicle instead, but I can't drive. I'm scared to drive, actually.

OK I'm going to jog, since that just happened. The woods are actually beyond doubt pretty, and I feel free of my life when I'm in them, but that scared me.

I finally arrived at my family's cottage, after jogging the rest of the way. With my backpack, how annoying.

The cottage is startling a three bedroom, with a room added on 30 years ago. I am always surprised it is still standing.

Yes I live with my mom, Lauren, she loves cooking and being in the garden. My dad, John, he works in town as a car mechanic. My grandma, helps my mom and fix the clothes, makes blankets and clothing also, that she can sell. She is even good at making even stylish clothes, that it surprises us. Then my grandpa, I don't know for sure what he does, but he is always at his native meetings, with the other natives. I know, my grandparents still live in the house with us, it is how my family is.

I walk inside, to see my mom cooking, Grandma in her chair making a new blanket. wondering where grandpa is.

I ask grandma "where is grandpa, I know Dad is working."

"My husband.... your grandpa is helping at the Indian reserve" grandma muttered.

I forgot to mention we live right on the line of the reserve, and public property. The court had fun trying to decide where we lived, so we are the middle people.
