6. Talk with Grand

I watched Jaden hold the baby in his arms. Remembering when Jewel was one.

I see Ryan walking in a little while after Jaden. Why does he kind of smell like her?

I get up from telling Sasha's older kid, Logan, about the story of our people, and its history. He was wanting to hear it. I bet someone told him, he might be a wolf or something. The kids always do crazy things to see if they are, but it doesn't always work out like they wish.

I walk over to Ryan, and tell him "we need to talk, Ryan, in private." He looked at me scared for a moment, worried about something. Wonder what that could be? What is he hiding?

"Yes Grand, I'm coming," he replied to me. Following me out of the door.

We walked away from the house to a fire pit. It was still glowing orange with coals. Ryan put in some logs and stoked the coals, so we could have some heat.

Then sat down somewhat across from me on the logs used for seats. I looked at the boy. He does look more like his mother. Who is gone from this planet. Then his father. His mother died in a freak car accident, when he was only five. He doesn't remember it. But his father went cold after that, and focused more on his job as chief then raise the boy.

"What do you want to talk about Grand," he asks me.

"How was the woods?" I ask in general so he doesn't worry too much, or know that I know more than he lets on.

Also because my house is on the other side of the reserve than he was, put to patrol.

"Um, it was great to run, nothing out of the norm." He said with ease, lying, hmm, time to ask.

"Was she taking the woods again, instead of riding the bus?" I say to him at random.

"The beautiful blonde, walking through the woods, yeah, wow. She was so calm and seemed at peace in the woods, oh crap!" He said out loud looking towards me, with the look of he was so in trouble.

"Thank you Ryan, for answering, I won't tell on you, but her and I are going to have a talk." I replied to Ryan, who was thinking about something.

"Um....Grand, can you tell me about mates, please," I looked at him strange. Now thinking why he would as such a question, maybe because of Jaden now finding his.

"Weren't you paying attention in class," I ask him, already knowing the answer.

"I'm sorry, but no...." he replied back. Well the boy sure does act like his father did, a little.

"Ryan, there is no words on how to explain the feeling you get. When you spot your mate for the first time, or even after that." I said trying to explain to him.
