Ava
"Goodbye, Ava," Aaron said, plunging the knife into my stomach. In a surge of adrenaline, I managed to free myself from the ropes. The blade hadn't pierced anything vital, so I seized it and drove it through his heart.
"It's your turn now, Aaron, not me."
I bolted out of the building where he had been holding me captive. I was lost, my stomach bleeding, but the pain didn't stop me from running.
I stumbled into an empty area, feeling dizzy, and then I saw him: Peter.
"Peter, you're not dead!"
"No, Ava, I am dead."
"But how can I see you?"
"Because you want to."
"Peter, I'm so sorry."
"Sorry for what, Ava? For killing me?"
"I told you to stop, but you—"
"I was drunk! That doesn't mean I deserved to die. You're the one who deserves it, Ava, not me. I loved you. You could have told me you didn't want me, but you chose to kill me."
"Peter..."
Then he vanished.
"Ava!!!!"
"Jonathan?"
"What are you doing here, Ava?"
"How are you here? Aaron killed you!"
"I'm always by your side, even in death."
"Jon, I'm sorry, please..." He disappeared too.
I sank to the ground, blood pooling around me.
"Yes, Peter, I deserve to die," I whispered to myself.
"No, Ava, you don't."
"What? Danny?"
"My name is Dad, not Danny. Don't think you've grown up just yet."
"I need you, Dad."
"And I'm here, beside you."
"But you're dead."
"What if I always see you?"
"I need you alive! I need to hug you, to laugh with you," I said, "to cry in your arms."
"You're not the problem, Ava."
"What?"
"I didn't die because of you. I had heart problems. Peter deserved what he got. You made the right choice, just like Aaron."
"What about Mom, Jon, Jesse, and Adam?"
"It's not your problem, Ava. It's Aaron's."
"Why are you saying this to me, Dad?"
"To live your life normally."
"I'm going to die. I'm bleeding, Dad, and I've lost so much blood."
"Look over there," Dad said. "There's a hospital. Go, Ava."
"I don't want you to disappear."
"I have to, but I need you to know that I love you so much."
"I love you more, Dad."
Then he vanished.
Summoning all my strength, I made my way to the hospital.
"Please help me! I'm dying!" I cried out.
