The first week at Amun Boarding School went by in a blur of classes and introductions. Amelia tried to settle into her routine, but the dreams continued. Every night, the same voice called her deeper into the house, and each morning she woke up more determined to uncover its secrets.
One evening, as the students gathered in the living room, a loud thud echoed through the house. The room fell silent. Everyone looked at each other, tension rising.
“I told you this place is haunted,” Grace, another new student, whispered.
Theo shrugged. “It’s probably just the wind.”
But Amelia wasn’t convinced. Something—or someone—was trying to get their attention.
Later that night, Amelia couldn't sleep. She lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, when she heard the sound of footsteps in the hallway. Quiet, but deliberate. Curiosity got the best of her, and she slipped out of bed, careful not to wake anyone. The house was dark, the only light coming from the moon shining through the windows.
As she made her way down the corridor, the footsteps grew louder. They led her to a door she hadn’t noticed before. It was small, hidden behind a tapestry of ancient Egyptian symbols. She reached for the handle, her heart racing, and slowly pushed the door open.
Inside, a spiral staircase descended into the darkness. The air was thick with dust, and the walls were lined with crumbling stones. The voice from her dreams echoed in her mind, calling her down the stairs. She hesitated for a moment before stepping forward.
