The final trial was the most daunting yet. The group found themselves in a dark, cavernous room. The only light came from a distant torch, and the air was thick with tension.
At the center of the room was a deep pit, filled with swirling shadows. The Guardian’s voice echoed once more.
“To pass this trial, one of you must enter the pit. Only through sacrifice will the curse be lifted.”
Amelia’s heart raced. “We have to trust each other. We’ve come this far.”
Theo nodded, but there was fear in his eyes. “I’ll go. I’ll face the pit.”
“No, Theo—” Amelia began, but he stopped her.
“I’m the one who found the first piece of the seal. I’ll finish this.”
With a deep breath, Theo stepped toward the pit. The shadows swirled around him, and for a moment, it seemed as though they would consume him.
But then, the light from the seal began to glow, and the shadows recoiled. Theo reached into the pit, retrieving a small, glowing object.
The curse was broken.
