After taking a long shower, trying to wash away the stress of the day, I settled down in the guest bedroom. Just as I was about to relax, my phone rang,a video call from Dwayne. He was at some photoshoot.
We started talking about work, specifically my leave, which officially began today.
Finally, a break.
I sighed, leaning back against the bed's headboard, the cool A/C blowing down on me. The convo flowed from there, jumping to random topics until he casually brought up my hair appointment for tomorrow.
"I'll pay for it, no worries," he said, as if it was nothing.
I laughed, shaking my head. "Dwayne, mi nah guh make yuh do dat. Mi can handle mi own tings."

"Janae," he cut in, his tone firm but still playful. "Let mi spoil yuh likkle bit. Yuh deserve it."

I rolled my eyes even though I was smiling. "Nah, im good."
But, of course, he didn't back down. "Why yuh always stubborn so? Just let mi do this fi yuh nuh." His eyes twinkled, a mischievous grin stretching across his face, and i have to admit, mi love when him talk like that.
"Fine," I said, sighing dramatically for effect. "Yuh win"
"Good girl," he teased, laughing.
I couldn't help but laugh too. "Mi nuh know how yuh always get yuh way," I said, shaking my head.
He smirked. "It's a talent." Then he leaned in closer to the camera, lowering his voice. "By di way, pack yuh bags. Mi have a surprise planned fi tomorrow night."

"A surprise?" I raised an eyebrow, suddenly intrigued.
"Yep," he nodded. "We're going away. Mi nah guh tell yuh where, though. Yuh jus affi trust mi."
My heart skipped a beat, and I couldn't stop smiling. "Away? Where yuh a carry mi?"
He chuckled, giving me a sly look. "i said it's a surprise, mi nah spoil di fun."
I could hear the excitement in his voice, and it made me feel giddy. "Sam and Anaya coming?" I asked, knowing my girls would probably want in on whatever adventure this was.
