A young man in his twenties approached, stopping about a meter in front of Jason. The two of them began sizing each other up carefully.
The man stood a full head taller than Jason, about 6'1" (1.85 meters), with a towering, muscular frame. His muscles were solid, and his knuckles thick and calloused. His fists looked nearly twice the size of Jason's.
Though they seemed mismatched, Jason wasn't scared. He was more concerned. After all, his training was in lethal combat—every move aimed at vital points. Against street thugs, he could hold back and take them out easily. But facing a real expert like this? He'd have to be careful. If he accidentally maimed or killed someone, it would cause a huge mess, and he'd feel guilty about it too.
"I can't tell just by looking, but I can sense that you're strong. I'd like to challenge you, but this isn't the right place. How about we find somewhere more suitable?" the man said.
Behind him, the thug leader, still trembling, stammered, "B-Boss, he..."
The man waved a hand dismissively and said, "My name's Lu Sui Feng. And you are...?"
"I'm just a high school student. I'm not looking for a fight. Your guys came after me, so I couldn't exactly just stand there and take it, right? Anyway, out of respect for you, I won't call the cops. Bye!" Jason turned to walk away.
"Hold on..." Lu wasn't done yet. He quickly caught up and reached out to grab Jason's shoulder.
Jason reacted instantly, dropping his shoulder and twisting the man's right hand, preparing to flip him over. But Lu pressed down on Jason's lower back with his left hand, blocking his move. The two locked in a brief stalemate before Lu stepped back, releasing him. "That's not your true skill, is it?"
Jason was about to reply when something caught his eye. "Gotta go!" he blurted, darting into a nearby restaurant, scooping up Faye, and making a run for it.
Lu Sui Feng was puzzled for a second, but then a graceful figure came rushing out the door after Jason. When Lu saw who it was, his expression changed too, and he turned to leave.
A young female officer, dressed in uniform and smiling sweetly, blocked his path. "Disturbing the peace and brawling in the street? Let's see how you explain this one, big brother!"
"Sis..." Lu Sui Feng instantly deflated.
Meanwhile, Jason hadn't gotten far either—well, more accurately, Faye hadn't. The officer had grabbed Faye by the collar, forcing Jason to stop in his tracks.
"Gotcha, kid! Public disturbance and street fighting? Let's see how you get out of this one!" The officer, none other than Captain Dong Biyun, grinned as she twisted Jason's arm into a painful hold.
"Come on, sis... I—" Jason sighed. He could feel her fingers pressing firmly into his shoulder joint, and he realized he wouldn't escape without using real force.
Lu Sui Feng was dragged over and pointed at Jason. "It's him! This guy led a whole bunch of thugs to attack me!"
A crowd gathered around, blocking Jason's escape even further.
"Get ready to run..." Faye whispered mischievously in his ear. Jason smiled wryly, knowing there was no easy way out of this.
"Daddy, stop running! Let's go home together!" Faye suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs.
Everything fell silent. Even Jason looked stunned, along with everyone else. All eyes were now glued to him in shock.
Dong Biyun stared at Jason, suspicious of his identity. How could a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old have a daughter that big?
