Chapter 8

"Good morning, Toga." I greeted her as she entered the room. "So-chan!" She yelled and quickly threw herself around me. "It's nice to see ya, Toga." I said, and she grinned like crazy. "Tomura, please release her. I want to spend time with her!" Toga begged and the man in question looked over at us. "Tch." He said, but then walked over to me and surprisingly released the cuffs. I just looked at him in shock and confusion. "Did you just—" I started. "Don't make me regret it." He said and sat back onto his chair. "So-chan! We have to use this opportunity!" She already wanted to take me somewhere else, but this time Shigaraki stopped her. "I'll stay with you if she tries to escape. So you'll stay here." He stated, and Toga pouted. "We'll just stay here." I said with a soft smile, and she agreed. "Fineeee." Soon another new member from the league entered the room. I found out his name is Compress, and he's a magician.

His quirk is compression, and it's always amazing watching him. Right now he was doing some card trick, and all the cards disappeared. "Huh! Where are they?" I said, confused, as I watched the cards disappear in nowhere. "It's a secret." Compress said misterious. "I swear to god, I'll figure it out!" I said, and he did it over and over again, but I just wasn't able to get it. Soon Dabi also entered the room and sat with us. "It's so easy to see." Dabi said after Compress did the trick one time. "Whaaat, you already saw it?!" I said as I looked at Dabi, who looked bored. "It's easy." He just stated.

sighed, crossing my arms in frustration. "Easy for you to say. I still don't get it!"

Dabi smirked but didn't respond. He leaned back in his chair, watching the room with that same detached, uninterested gaze he always had. It was hard to tell what he was thinking, but he always seemed so sure of himself—like nothing could phase him.

Toga plopped down beside me, her energy as boundless as ever. "Come on, So-chan! Don't let Dabi get to you. He's always like this!" She stuck out her tongue at him, to which Dabi just shrugged.

"You'll figure it out eventually, Sora," Compress said with a wink, shuffling the cards in his hand again. "Or maybe you won't. That's the fun part of magic!"

I rolled my eyes but smiled. Despite everything, I was starting to feel a little more comfortable around the league. It wasn't that I trusted them—not by a long shot—but there was something almost... normal about these interactions. Like, somehow, I wasn't a prisoner for a moment but just another person in their strange group.

Wait, what the fuck is wrong with me?! They're my enemies; they kidnapped me. I'm most of the time in cuffs. What the fuck am I thinking? I have to focus on a way to escape.

Shigaraki, however, kept a close eye on me. His earlier warning still echoed in my head. Don't make me regret it. He had released me from the cuffs, which meant he trusted me enough not to run—at least for now. But I knew that if I gave him any reason to doubt me, he wouldn't hesitate to chain me back up.

"Do you really think I'd run?" I asked Shigaraki, turning to face him.

He didn't look up from the game he was playing on his phone. "Wouldn't blame you if you did."

His bluntness sting, but I wasn't surprised. "I'm not going to escape... yet," I added, half-joking. "If I wanted to, I would've tried already."

Shigaraki finally glanced up, his red eyes narrowing. "Don't test me, Sora. You're still here because I allow it."

I held up my hands in surrender. "I'm just saying, I don't plan on making any stupid moves." I told him, and his eyes just narrowed at me. Maybe if I can make him trust me enough, I can escape...

Soon as the day came to an end, Shigaraki put the cuffs back on my hands, and I got put back into my room. "Shigaraki..." I started, and he turned around just a little. "Thank you for letting me out of these. I know I'm the enemy; I'm not trustworthy, but I enjoyed it." I said. He didn't say anything and just left the room. "Kinda rude." I mumbled and laid back in my bed.
