All my life, I've only had one dream: to become a successful and well-known singer. Ever since I was nine years old, I've worked hard to get to where I am today. I post covers of songs and even original songs that I wrote on my YouTube channel.
I'm sure you're probably wondering who I am. Well, I am Hailee Campbell and I'm 17 years old. I turn 18 on November this year.
My father took care of me all my life. And I couldn't have asked for a better father.
In the beginning of this summer, my Aunt invited me to come over and live with her in Canada. I wanted to go. Don't get me wrong. Life in New York is great, but I wanted to try something new and I think Canada would be a great place for a me.
I needed a new beginning. I wanted to get away from all the hurt I've gone through. I just needed an escape. A safe haven.
My father was hesitant at first, but when he saw that I really wanted and needed this, he told me that I could live in Canada with my Aunt. He told me I was due to leave towards the end of the summer, so he could spend time with me.

I got my last suitcase out of three and loaded it up on the cart along with three boxes. I turned around to face my dad, whose eyes were glassy.
I hugged him tightly and I pulled back and smiled at him. Then I started to walk away. Before I completely got into the airport, I heard a faint voice yell " Call me when you get there!"

I finally made it! I'm in Canada. It was pretty cold, as expected. But it wasn't that cold, especially since I've lived in New York for the past seventeen years. I still brought a hoodie, jacket, and a beanie though. My dad thought that I'd get sick.
I slipped on the hoodie over my tee-shirt first, and then my Jacket next. After that, I put the beanie on my head. I felt warm and toasty already.
Once I was all warmed up, I started to walk to the baggage claim, and in no time, I got all my stuff on my cart. I walked over to the arrival area.
Unfortunately, my aunt had work today, so I had to take a Taxi going to her House. Its fine with me. I'm probably just gonna drop my stuff off at her house, then I'll wander around Toronto since she lives there.
I hailed a taxi and the driver helped me fit all my belongings in it. I give him my aunt's address. Good thing my taxi was like the SUV types they also have back home in New York. So I had a lot of space.
During the taxi ride, I called my dad and we talked for about fifteen minutes and just as our call ended, the driver announced that we were here.
I paid him, and he helped me put my belongings on the front porch. I took the key my aunt sent me before I came here, and I opened the door with my carry on backpack slung over my shoulders.
I placed the back pack neatly in the living room. I didn't want to mess up my aunt's House. This was the first time I've ever been here, and the neighborhood is so nice, and her house is amazing! I think I'm gonna love it here.
I go back out on the porch and I started to push my boxes and suitcases into the living room. I went into the kitchen and I saw a note. It read " knew you'd go to the kitchen right away, so call me when you get home, you know my number. - Aunt Maddie." My aunt Maddie is only 28. So she's actually really cool. That's one of the other reasons why I agreed to go live with her.
I called her and she picked up at the third ring." Hello? Hailee!!! What do you think of the house? Do you love it? I'll be home in an hour. I'll show you your room when I get home. Don't go in it yet. I want to see your reaction. What are your plans until I get home?" she says all in one breath.
"Woah, Aunt Maddie calm down a little. I won't look for my room yet. I left my stuff in your living room if you dont mind. I was planning to just stroll around Toronto" I reply.
"oh okay Hailee! Be safe! Bring your phone and wallet with you for when there's an emergency! Okay I gotta go my boss is coming in. Love you! "
"Alright aunt Mad. See ya later! Love ya too!"
With that, the call ended. I grabbed the first purse I saw in my suitcase and put my phone and wallet in it. I checked the time on my Phone and I realized my phone was about to die. Oh well.
I'm sure I'll be able to find a pay phone or something. I knew my aunts address and number anyway.
I changed into my black doc martens and walked to the Cn tower, since it wasn't that far from here. I went to the observation deck of it, and it was beautiful.
I decided to take a panoramic picture of the view. Just as I finished taking the picture, my phone died. Great just great. I admired the view one last time, and went back down. I decided to try to find a phone booth.
On the way down, I bumped into someone. I looked up and my blue grey eyes immediately meet a pair of Brown, familiar eyes. And that's when I realized, that I bumped into Shawn Mendes.
I've watched a lot of his covers and even did covers on some of his songs. But I wouldn't say I'm an obsessed Fangirl, but his music is pretty great.
I snapped back to reality, and realized that he was still staring at my eyes and I suddenly got shy and blushed. I looked down and I took a tiny step back and smiled at the ground.
"Sorry for um bumping into you, I was trying to get to a phone booth fast. My phone died and I just moved here today at my aunt's house." I explain to him politely.
"Oh, it's all good. No harm done. You could use my phone to call your aunt. I don't mind." He replies with a warm smile on his face.
"Can I please? I'm guessing she's on her way home now," I answer.
"Here," He says handing me his phone.
"Thanks a lot. Seriously. You're my hero." I tell him.
"Oh I know. I'm Shawn, by the way." He smiles again.
Oh my gosh, this boy.
"I knew who you are, I did some covers of your songs. My names Hailee, Hailee Campbell." I replied sheepishly, extending my hand for a handshake.
"That's so awesome! I'll check them out sometime!" He replied, extending his hand as well to shake mine.
After we shook hands, I quickly dialed my aunt's phone number. She didn't answer though. So I tried two more times. But it still didn't work. I guess she doesn't answer unknown numbers.
I smiled at Shawn and explained to him "My aunt didn't answer. She lives near here, so I guess I could walk there."
"Nonsense, I can drive you there. I live near here anyway."
"Are you sure? I mean, here. That's the address." I told him handing him the emergency information paper my dad insisted I take. I guess I put it to use.
"No way! I live right next to that house!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Really? You do! Well, that's awesome!" I answered just as excitedly.
" Yeah. I was on my way home anyway so we can go now." He says with another one of his killer smiles.
" Thank you so much for this, Shawn." I tell him gratefully.
"Anything for my new neighbor," he winks.
I blush and look at the ground.
"Okay, let's go!" I exclaimed.
He held his hand out, smiling. He led me out of the tower.
I'm starting to love Canada already.
