Before the Paranormal Liberation War:

"If only Tomie hadn't given birth to you!"

Takami Keigo, alias Wing Hero Hawks, woke up hearing his father's harsh words echo in his mind. Letting out a big sigh, he sat up in bed and checked the time on his phone. It was around 7 AM. If he didn't get ready soon, he might be late for work.

Today, he was going on patrol with Tokoyami Fumikage, hero name Tsukuyomi. Tokoyami-kun was a sharp learner with an interesting quirk. Hawks hoped to teach him everything he could, entrusting his values to the next generation. Although it seemed a bit early for him to be thinking about that, he wanted to prepare.

Yawning, he got out of bed, took a shower, and got ready to head to his agency. After greeting his sidekicks and Tokoyami-kun with a good morning, he headed to his cabin. One of his assistant sidekicks informed him about their patrol route. They were planning to go to an area where a couple of minor assaults had taken place.

"Okay then. Tsukuyomi and I will go check it out." He left his cabin and went to Tokoyami-kun.

"Good morning, Tsukuyomi, let's go on patrol," Hawks said, throwing an arm around Tokoyami's shoulders.

"Good morning, Hawks. I can walk on my own," Tokoyami replied, slightly flustered by Hawks' casual attitude.

Tokoyami had learned how to fly using his Dark Shadow, a development that had impressed Hawks the first time he saw it. They quickly reached the area where the disturbances had been reported.

"Looks like something's happening," Tokoyami observed as they flew down to get a closer look.

A fight had broken out. A middle-aged man with a quirk that let him hurl stones from his palms was attacking others who seemed to be guarding food. Suddenly, a young woman in her twenties tried to stop the man, holding him back to protect the others. In a fit of rage, he turned on her instead, yelling, "You fool! I told you not to leave the house, right? You're just like her, you evil child. Why did Tamayo even bother giving birth to you!?"

Hawks' eyes widened in recognition of the situation, and he flew toward her, shielding her with his wings. The man stopped his attack.

"Who the hell are you?" the man yelled.

Hawks ignored him, focusing on the girl who was now crouching in fear. Her eyes were shut tight. Realizing the attack had stopped, she cautiously opened her eyes.

"Are you okay?" Hawks asked softly, kneeling beside her, still shielding her with his wings.

She looked at him, awestruck. His golden-brown eyes were filled with concern, and his bright red wings cocooned her protectively. She was breathing heavily, visibly shaken, and her injuries were evident. Her big blue eyes brimmed with unshed tears. She looked weak, with long black hair and pale skin, suggesting she hadn't been eating properly.

The man, frustrated, attempted to attack Hawks, but Tokoyami's Dark Shadow restrained him. The girl stood up abruptly. "Otousan (Father)!" she cried.

Hawks, Tokoyami, and the crowd around them were all stunned.

"Don't call me that, you evil child! You're just like her! You even look like her—a criminal!" the man screamed. The girl hesitated, holding back.

"Why were you attacking these people and your own daughter?" Hawks asked, retracting his wings.

"That girl is not my daughter!" the man spat.

One of the bystanders stepped forward, explaining to Hawks that the man had been trying to steal food, and when confronted, he started attacking people. They hadn't even known he had a daughter, as she had been locked away in the house for years.
