'Help me, it's like the walls are caving in.'

Aria's POV:

I walked into the grotto, and the sight that greeted me was unexpected: Sirena was focused on weaving a bracelet out of colorful shells.

"Hey, what's going on?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

"Apparently, Sirena has more important things to do than focus on the trident that could change the world," Lyla rolled her eyes. "But hey, at least I hope I'm not interrupting your threading."

"I'm listening," Sirena sighed, not taking her eyes off her work. "I can do two things at once."

"Just do one," Lyla retorted, a playful smirk on her face. "Your jewelry can wait."

Nixie glanced over, a smile lighting up her features. "Actually, you know what? You should totally add some green tortoise shell to that. It'll give it a nice pop!"

"Not really the look I'm going for," Sirena huffed, a smile tugging at her lips despite her feigned annoyance.

"Why not?" Nixie asked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"It's old-fashioned," Sirena replied with an eye roll. "That's something Rita would wear."

"It would be so cool," Nixie said, but her excitement faded when she turned to see Lyla glaring at her. "What?"

"Nothing," Lyla grumbled, crossing her arms.

I couldn't help but smile at their banter, but I quickly shifted focus back to the matter at hand. "If Zac gets hold of the trident, Mermen could rise again and conquer the oceans. If I remember your history correctly, Mermen are supposed to be our greatest enemies, right?"

"Exactly," Lyla nodded, her glare now directed at both Sirena and Nixie. "But hey, as long as we've got the right accessories—"

"Enough," I interrupted, trying to rein in the conversation. "Arguing isn't getting us anywhere."

"Besides," Nixie added, her tone lightening a bit, "it's locked away on Mako."

"True, but he's gonna be looking for it," Lyla shot back, her frustration evident. I sighed, feeling the weight of the situation.

"And Aria will be watching him," Nixie glanced at me, a serious look in her eyes. "You will make sure he doesn't find it, right?"

I nodded, determination bubbling inside me. "I'll keep an eye on him. I won't let him put us all at risk."

"Hey, girls." Rita walked in with a warm smile. "What are you up to this morning?"

"Oh, nothing that'll get us in trouble," Nixie shrugged, flipping a coin in the air with a playful smirk.
