Chapter 9: A Little R&R

A few days had passed since your fight with Waluigi, and since then, no one has seen the brothers. Construction on the city had started the day after and was going well.

You were resting in bed, letting your wounds heal and your body rest. After pushing your body as far as you did, you were unable to move for most of your resting state.

But it wasn't too bad. Your friends would come by when they had the chance to keep you company and make sure you had everything you needed. The boys would show up and watch memes with you, Tari would visit and take care of you and play video games. Saiko would tag along sometimes.

As with Desti and Meggy, they visited when they could, but their training for the Splatfest took up most of their time. But on this day, you were by yourself for most of the day.

By this time, most of your wounds had healed, and your body had recovered from the effects of the Kaio-ken, but you just wanted to make sure and took a few more days to rest. So today, you were sitting on the couch and reading a book you had put off for a while. A knocking at the door broke your attention away from your book. You go to the door and open it, revealing Meggy, holding a bag with Crusty Sean's logo on it in one hand and a drink carrier with two drinks in the other.

Meggy: Hey Y/n! I brought some food if you haven't eaten already.

As if on cue, your stomach began rumbling. It then hit you that you haven't eaten all day.

Y/n: I guess I could eat real quick. Thanks Meggy.

You let the Inkling into the house. She goes towards the table and sets the drinks down. She then pulls out two Seanwiches, putting one in front of her and the other on the other side of the table.

You take a seat at the table and you and Meggy begin to eat. After swallowing your food, you ask you begin to talk.

Y/n: So how's training going?

Meggy: It's going good. Actually... not really.

Y/n: What's up?

Meggy: It's Kenji and Sam. They've been giving me a hard time recently.

Y/n: Why?

Meggy: They're saying that I hang out with you guys a lot more than I do with them. So yeah, they're just jealous. But enough about that, how are you?

Y/n: Better. I should be back to my training by the end of the week.

As the two of you finish your food, Meggy stands up from the table.

Meggy: Hey, you wanna go walking around the city?

Y/n: Sure, I need to stretch my legs anyway.

You and Meggy leave the house and head into the city. Together, the two of you visited the mall and buy a few things. Then the two of you took a walk through the park. The sun was beginning to set when you two were finished and Meggy wanted to walk you home. As you were walking, you come across the construction team that was working on the block surrounding the convention building.

You can't help but notice Meggy speeding up a little bit, probably trying to leave the area quickly.

Y/n: Hey, What's wrong?

Meggy: Nothing, I just... I'm sorry, it's just been rough this past week. With Kenji and Sam and... Waluigi.

When you make it home, Meggy quickly gets your attention once more.

Meggy: There's actually something I need to tell you, Y/n. Can I come inside again?

You let Meggy in the house once more and as she sits on the couch, you head to the kitchen and grab two sodas. Going back to the living room, you hand one of the soads to Meggy.
