"Omg! I'm so sorry. You scared me and I didn't know that it was you and..."
"It's ok. I hate these shirts." I sighed a sigh of relief and took some deep breaths because I was tired from talking a mile a minute.
"To be honest," I noticed that Chris was taking his work shirt off. He had a shirt on under it that matched his work pants as if he was ready for work to be over, but the hot chocolate soaked through his work shirt and went onto his other shirt. "I hate this job. I started two days ago, but I don't think working in the coffee shop is for me and don't worry about it I'll just go home and change clothes."
Geez. His words were as if he wasn't mad, but I could tell in the tone of his voice that he was. Well this was a great first impression. Chris looked down at his shirt and looked at me strangely. I thought he was going to curse me out, but then he put a huge smile on his face.
"Hey, you know how in movies and stuff the girl spills something on the guy and then they get together and stuff."
"Yea." I knew what was coming.
"Well,...maybe we could go out sometime?" He talked as if he knew I would say yes, but I'm not the kind of person who gets excited when a guy asks her out.
"Where?"
"Well...." He stopped to think. "Here, since your date here was a train wreck." He motioned towards the shop. We both stopped to look at Eddie and the other girl. They were both screaming at each other. They had turned a shade of red and you could see the veins in their neck when they yelled. Eddie kept grabbing at his hair before yelling at her while she kept rolling her eyes and pulling a poker face, but they both kept pointing towards the window, arguing about me. I took a second to look around the shop. Anyone who hadn't had the since to leave had the look of pure disgust on their face. I'm pretty sure Eddie and the woman had been asked to leave by now.
I looked at Chris who was still staring at the scene. "How? We don't know each other?"
He took his eyes off the scene and took out his phone. "Luckily it's water proof." He said and gave me a sideways grin before taping the screen.
"Your Catherine right?"
"Yep." He started typing what was obviously my name.
"Here." He handed me his phone. I noticed he spelled my name wrong, but I didn't mind.I typed in my number. Why? I have no idea. I just got cheated on and in the next 15 minutes I give another guy my number. It's like I set my self up for heart break. I noticed he spelled my name wrong, but I didn't mind.
"Well I need to find a ride so bye." Eddie was my ride here and I didn't have the guts to go ask him for a ride back.
"I can giv...."
"No, it's ok. Look the bus us coming towards the stop right there." I pointed towards the stop a few feet away. "And I don't take rides from strangers. Bye!" I ran towards the stop since the bus was just about there. I waved towards him as I was stepping onto the bus, but he didn't see me because he was messing with his phone.
I sat on the bus bummed thinking he was telling all his friends he got a girl's number, but then my phone dinged.'See at this time tomorrow.' It was obviously Chris. I checked the clock on my phone and placed the time in my memory. 2:15 p.m.
