It had been only a few days since Miyamura left for the Dwarves' Kingdom, and in his absence, life in Tempest carried on as usual. Hori had taken up the responsibility of looking after the village, training with Shion, Benimaru, and the others. She pushed aside the lingering fear in her heart, focusing on keeping things running smoothly.

But peace never lasts forever.

That day, the skies above Tempest darkened without warning, thick clouds swirling ominously as the wind howled through the village. Hori stood at the village center, her hand resting on her sword, an unsettling feeling creeping up her spine. Something wasn’t right.

Suddenly, a scout came rushing toward her, his face pale with terror. "Lady Hori! We’re under attack! It’s... it’s Demon Lord Clayman’s army!"

Hori’s heart dropped. "Clayman?" she echoed, disbelief mixing with fear. "How did they get past our defenses?"

"There was no warning... they just appeared!" the scout replied, his voice trembling.

Without wasting a second, Hori called out to Benimaru, Shion, and the others. "Prepare for battle! We need to protect the village at all costs!"

The village quickly erupted into chaos as the citizens scrambled for safety, while the warriors gathered at the frontlines. The ground trembled as an overwhelming force of monsters and demons, all under Clayman’s command, descended upon Tempest.

Benimaru stood by Hori’s side, his expression grim. "We’re outnumbered, but we’ll fight to the end."

Hori nodded, her grip tightening on her sword. "We have to protect them."

The battle began in a blur of steel and blood. Hori, Benimaru, and the others fought fiercely, cutting down wave after wave of enemies, but the sheer number of Clayman’s army was overwhelming. They were being pushed back, despite their best efforts.

Shion fought with a fierce determination, her blade cutting through the enemy ranks, but even she began to tire under the relentless assault. Gobta, Gabiru, Rigurd and the others fought valiantly, but the tide of battle was quickly turning against them.

As the village fell into deeper chaos, Hori spotted a group of demons heading straight for Shuna, who was doing her best to protect the villagers but was clearly outmatched.

"Shuna!" Hori shouted, her heart racing as she sprinted toward her.

Shuna’s eyes widened as she saw the demons closing in. She raised her hands to cast a barrier, but she was too late. The demons were already upon her.

In that moment, without thinking, Hori threw herself between Shuna and the demons, blocking the attack with her own body. The impact was brutal, sending her crashing to the ground, blood spilling from the deep wound in her side.

"Lady Hori!" Shuna screamed, rushing to her side. "Why—why did you—?"

Hori coughed, her vision blurring as the pain radiated through her. "I... couldn’t let them... hurt you."

Benimaru, seeing what had happened, let out a furious roar and charged toward the remaining demons, cutting them down with wild fury. But the damage had already been done.

Hori lay on the ground, her strength fading fast. Shuna knelt beside her, tears streaming down her face. "Please... don’t die, Hori. Please, you can’t leave us!"

But Hori knew. She could feel her life slipping away. The world around her was growing darker, colder.

"I’m... sorry," Hori whispered, her voice weak. "I promised... I promised I wouldn’t leave him. But... I couldn’t let them... hurt you."

Shuna sobbed, shaking her head. "No... no, this isn’t happening..."

With her last bit of strength, Hori smiled, her thoughts drifting to Miyamura. "Tell him... I’m sorry. Tell him I love him..."

And with that, Hori’s body went still, her hand slipping from Shuna’s grasp.

Far away, in the Dwarves' Kingdom, Miyamura felt a sudden, inexplicable dread seize his heart. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.

He dropped the conversation he had been having with King Gazel and immediately called for Ranga. "We need to get back. Something’s happened in Tempest."

Without hesitation, he mounted Ranga and urged him forward at full speed. But the journey back felt agonizingly slow, the sense of dread growing with each passing moment. Something had gone horribly, horribly wrong.

As they neared Tempest, Miyamura saw the black smoke rising into the sky. His heart pounded in his chest as they sped toward the village.

When he arrived, the sight that greeted him was nothing short of devastation. The village lay in ruins, buildings crumbled to the ground, bodies strewn everywhere—his friends, his comrades, all fallen. The cheerful village he had once known was no more.

"No..." Miyamura whispered, his voice hollow with disbelief. "No... this can’t be real."

He rushed through the wreckage, desperately searching for any sign of life. But it was too late. One by one, he found the bodies of his friends—Benimaru, Shion, Gobta... all of them gone.

And then he found Hori.

She lay motionless in the center of the village, her body still, her skin pale. Miyamura dropped to his knees beside her, his hands trembling as he reached out to touch her face.

"Hori..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "No... no, please..."

But she didn’t respond. She couldn’t. She was gone.

Miyamura’s chest tightened, tears blurring his vision as the weight of it all crashed down on him. He had failed. He wasn’t there when they needed him most. He wasn’t there to protect her.

"I’m so sorry..." he sobbed, his hands gripping her lifeless form. "I’m so sorry, Hori... I should’ve been here... I should’ve protected you..."

He had a complete breakdown. His screams and sobs echoed through the ruins of the kingdom, his grief so overwhelming that he could hardly breathe. The love of his life, his friends, his kingdom—everything was gone.

As he knelt there, Milim and Ramiris finally arrived, having followed him after sensing the disturbance. They stood silently for a moment, taking in the destruction, their hearts heavy with sorrow.

"I’m sorry, Miyamura," Milim said quietly, her usual energetic demeanor gone. "But... there might be a way."

Miyamura lifted his head, his eyes red and swollen. "What do you mean?"

Milim glanced at Ramiris, who nodded in agreement. "You could become a Demon Lord. Like me. If you do, you might be able to bring them back... all of them."

Miyamura’s breath hitched. Become a Demon Lord? The thought had never crossed his mind. But now, faced with the death of everyone he loved, it seemed like the only option.

"I... I’ll do it," Miyamura whispered, his voice filled with determination. "I’ll do whatever it takes to save them."
