Chapter 35: A New Beginning – The Birth of Twins
The sun hung high in the sky one peaceful afternoon, casting warm rays into the room where Hori and Miyamura sat, enjoying a quiet moment together. They were discussing their future, sharing thoughts about the baby and what life would be like as parents.
Miyamura leaned back, his hand gently resting on Hori’s belly as he smiled softly. "Do you think the baby will take after you or me?"
Hori chuckled, brushing her hair behind her ear. "If they’re anything like you, they’ll be quiet but full of surprises."
Miyamura smiled at the thought, but just as he was about to respond, Hori suddenly gasped, her hand flying to her belly. Her expression shifted from laughter to concern, her body tensing as pain gripped her.
"Miyamura… I think… it’s time," Hori breathed, her voice laced with pain and urgency.
Miyamura's heart skipped a beat, and his eyes widened in realization. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, calling everyone for help.
Within moments, the castle was a whirlwind of activity. Miyamura stood outside the room, pacing back and forth with tense shoulders, his mind racing with worry. Benimaru, Veldora, and Diablo stood nearby, attempting to calm him down, but Miyamura’s anxiety was written all over his face.
"It’s going to be fine," Benimaru reassured, crossing his arms. "Shion and Shuna are handling it."
"Yeah, they’ve got this," Veldora added, trying to sound casual but failing to mask his own excitement.
Diablo, ever the composed one, gave Miyamura a small smile. "This is a joyous occasion, Lord Miyamura. Everything will be just fine."
Miyamura nodded but couldn’t stop pacing, his heart racing as he strained to listen to what was happening inside the room. Time seemed to stretch on forever as the tension in the air grew thicker.
Inside the room, Hori was in the throes of labor, her breaths coming in short, strained bursts. Shuna was by her side, holding her hand, while Shion prepared for the delivery with a calm yet focused demeanor.
"You’re doing great, Hori," Shuna said softly, squeezing her hand for comfort. "Just a little longer."
Hori gritted her teeth, nodding through the pain. "I… I can do this," she whispered, determination shining through her exhaustion.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the tense atmosphere was broken by the sound of a baby’s cry—a sound that filled the room with relief and joy. Shion smiled brightly, looking at the tiny bundle in her arms.
"It's a boy," Shion announced proudly.
But just as they thought the delivery was over, another wave of contractions hit Hori, and after a few more moments of labor, another cry filled the air.
"It's a girl," Shion said, her voice filled with awe.
Miyamura, still pacing outside, froze when he heard Shion’s voice. Moments later, the door swung open, and Shion appeared with a huge smile on her face and tells Miyamura to go inside to see his babies.
Miyamura’s heart nearly burst with emotion as he hurried into the room. His breath caught in his throat when he saw Hori lying in bed, cradling two tiny newborns—one boy and one girl—wrapped in soft blankets. Hori, though exhausted, was smiling down at them, her eyes filled with love.
Miyamura approached slowly, his hands trembling as he knelt by Hori’s side, gazing at his new family. Tears welled up in his eyes, and without thinking, he pulled Hori and the babies into a gentle embrace.
"They’re adorable," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "You’re perfect."
Hori smiled softly, leaning into his touch. "We did it, Miyamura… we’re parents."
Miyamura gently kissed the forehead of his son and then his daughter, before pressing a tender kiss to Hori’s temple. "I love you, Hori. And I love them also."
They shared a quiet moment, the weight of their journey settling in—how far they had come from their previous world, how much they had grown together. Now, they were starting a new chapter, not just as rulers of Tempest, but as parents to two beautiful children.
"What should we name them?" Hori asked, her voice soft as she gazed down at the twins.
Miyamura thought for a moment, his heart full. "For our boy… how about Haruto? And for our girl… Yui."
Hori smiled, the names fitting perfectly. "Haruto and Yui… they’re nice."
Before they could say anything more, the door burst open, and their friends stormed in. Veldora, Benimaru, Milim, Ramiris, Diablo, Shuna, and Shion all crowded into the room, their faces lit up with excitement.
"Let me see the babies!" Milim exclaimed, practically bouncing on her heels.
"Congratulations!" Ramiris added, flying over to get a closer look.
Benimaru gave a proud nod, but before he could speak, Shion nudged him with a smirk. "You’ve got your hands full now, Miyamura. Two babies, huh? Think you can handle it?"
Miyamura blushed, scratching the back of his head. "I… I’ll manage."
But the chaos in the room only grew as Veldora and Shion continued to tease the new parents. "Miyamura, don’t drop the babies now!" Veldora teased, laughing boisterously.
Before long, the babies started to cry, overwhelmed by the noise and excitement. Hori and Miyamura looked at each other in panic, but their friends immediately sprang into action, trying to soothe the newborns.
"Shh, shh, it’s okay!" Shion cooed, bouncing one of the babies in her arms, while Shuna gently rocked the other.
The room turned into a whirlwind of chaotic yet heartwarming moments as their friends tried to calm the twins down, but the noise only made things more hectic.
Hori and Miyamura watched the scene unfold, and despite the chaos, they couldn’t help but smile. It was a moment of pure joy—messy, loud, but filled with so much love. They exchanged a look, then Miyamura wrapped his arm around Hori, pulling her close.
"This is our family now," Miyamura whispered, his heart swelling with happiness.
Hori leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "And I wouldn’t have it any other way."
As they watched their friends fuss over the babies and laugh together, Hori and Miyamura knew they were surrounded by people who cared deeply for them and their children. Their small family was growing, and with their friends by their side, they felt ready to face whatever the future would bring.
The chapter ended with the image of Hori and Miyamura holding each other, their hearts full, as they gazed lovingly at their newborns—Haruto and Yui—their small but precious family.
