The afternoon sun was beginning to dip behind the horizon as Sero and Shinsou made their way to the cafe just outside the UA grounds. The cafe was a favorite among students, known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious desserts. Sero's hand brushed lightly against Shinsou's as they walked side by side, a casual, easy silence between them. The purple haired boy felt a little out of place. It wasn't often that he went on group outings like this, but Sero's excitement about the double date with Kirishima and Mina was contagious. "You've been looking forward to this, haven't you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course!" the black haired boy grinned, his eyes lighting up. "Kiri and Mina are great together, and it'll be fun to hang out as couples, don't you think?"
The boy shrugged, trying to hide a small smile. "Yeah, I guess. I've never really done something like this before."
"Well, you'll love it," Sero promised, slipping his hand into Shinsou's and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Besides, it's not like it's super formal or anything. Just us hanging out, eating good food, and probably hearing Kiri and Mina tease each other the entire time."
The other chuckled at that. He'd seen how energetic Kirishima and Mina could be together. "That should be... entertaining."
When they reached the cafe, the other two were already seated at a booth near the window. Mina waved excitedly the moment she saw them, her pink hair bouncing as she gestured for them to hurry over. "Heyyy, you guys!" she called out, her voice full of enthusiasm. "We got the best spot! Right by the window!"
The red haired boy beamed at them as well, his usual upbeat energy radiating from him. "What's up dudes! We were just talking about you two. Ready for some food? I'm starving!"
The two boys slid into the booth across from them, Sero squeezing in closer to the other than necessary, which earned a teasing grin from Mina. "Aww, look at you two, all cute and cozy," she teased, propping her chin on her hands.
Shinsou felt his face flush slightly, but he quickly composed himself, rolling his eyes good-naturedly. "You guys aren't going to make this weird, are you?"
"No promises," the girl said with a wink, causing Kirishima to laugh.
"Come on, man, it's just a date," he added, flashing them his trademark sharp-toothed smile. "But seriously, it's. cool to see you guys together. You seem like a good match."
Sero leaned in, grinning at his boyfriend. "Told you they'd be chill."
Shinsou rolled his eyes again, but there was a softness in his expression now, something more comfortable. "Yeah, yeah."
As they ordered their food, the conversation flowed easily. Mina shared stories about their recent training sessions, while Kirishima chimed in with exaggerated tales of his own heroics, making everyone laugh. Sero was quick to match their energy, cracking jokes and tossing in playful remarks that made Shinsou smile more than he'd expected to.
"So," the pink haired girl said at one point, leaning in with a mischievous grin, "how long have you guys been official?"
Sero smirked. "Not too long, but long enough."
The other felt his cheeks flush again, but he didn't pull away from Sero's side. "We're still figuring things out," he said, his voice casual, though there was a certain fondness in his tone.
"Well, you guys seem like you're in a good place," Kirishima said, leaning back in his seat. "Mina and I, on the other hand, are in a constant state of chaos."
"Oh please, you love it," she teased, nudging the boy with her elbow. "Admit it, you can't get enough of me."
The boy laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Alright, alright, I admit it. You keep me on my toes."
Shinsou watched the two of them banter, a small smile playing on his lips. It was nice to see how easily they fit together, the way they balanced each other's personalities. He could see why Sero was so close to them, and in a way, it made him feel more at ease.
"So, what about you guys?" The black haired boy asked, turning the conversation back to Kirishima and Mina. "How long have you been officially a couple?"
Mina grinned, draping an arm around her boyfriend's shoulders. "We've been a thing for a few months now. It kind of just... happened. One day we were hanging out, and the next we were, like, inseparable."
The redhead nodded, smiling affectionately at her. "Yeah, she's got a way of pulling people in, you know? I didn't stand a chance."
Sero laughed. "Sounds about right."
The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur of laughter, teasing, and shared stories. The four of them clicked in a way that felt natural, like this double date had been a long time coming. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow through the cafe windows, Mina stretched her arms above her head.
"This was fun! We should do it again sometime.""Definitely," Sero agreed, grinning as he nudged Shinsou playfully.
"What do you think? Double dates from now on?"The boy smirked.
"As long as they don't get too weird."The pink haired girl gasped, pretending to be offended.
"Weird? Us? Never."Kirishima laughed and clapped Shinsou on the back.
"Don't worry, man. We'll keep it chill."As they left the cafe, Sero slipped his hand into Shinsou's once more, a silent gesture of affection that made Shinsou's heart swell. It had been a good day - better than he'd expected, even. And though they were still navigating their new relationship, being around people like Kirishima and Mina made him feel like everything was falling into place.
"Wanna head back to my place?" The purple haired boy asked quietly as they walked, his voice soft but steady.
"We could just... hang out."Sero squeezed his hand.
"Sounds perfect."———
