Minnie stood before the gleaming chrome of her bedroom mirror, her reflection shimmering with the soft glow of the pendant lights above. Her eyes, piercing black.
Her hair, a sleek curtain of raven locks, framed her face perfectly.
The room was an organized chaos, with clothes strewn about in a fashion that seemed haphazard but was meticulously curated for ease of access.
Her phone buzzed incessantly on the bedside table, a stark white noise in the quiet of the evening. It was Miyeon, the name flashing on the screen like a light of comfort in the darkness of her thoughts.
With a deep breath, she reached out and started to type a message.
"Miyeon, I need to see you."
Minnie's fingers hovered over the keys for a moment, contemplating the gravity of her words. Her heart thudded in her chest like a drum announcing a battle's start.
"Can I come to you?" she finally sent, pressing send with a decisive click.
The response was immediate.
"Of course," Miyeon texted back, her concern palpable through the digital words. "What's going on?"
Minnie couldn't formulate the words. Not yet. Not until she saw her face-to-face. She replied with a simple,
"It's complicated. Let's talk when I'll be there."
The journey to Miyeon's apartment felt like a trek through a labyrinth of her own thoughts. The city lights blurred by the snow outside her car window, mirroring the tumult inside her. She felt a mix of nervousness and anticipation, her mind racing with scenarios of what she would say.
When she arrived, she took a moment to compose herself before knocking on the door. The muffled sound echoed through the hallway, a gentle rap that seemed to resonate with the rhythm of her heart.
The door swung open to reveal Miyeon, on her lips pictured a welcoming and reassuring smile.

The apartment was a warm, cozy retreat from the biting chill of the December evening. Miyeon sat on her sofa, her eyes scanning the pages of an open book. A cup of steaming hot chocolate, topped with a mountain of whipped cream and a solitary marshmallow swimming in the steaming brown pool as she waited for her friend, Minnie, to come.
The bell of the door chimed.
The girl got up, opening the door seeing a woman in her blue coat.
Her cheeks flushed and nose red from the cold, shivered as she removed her scarf and gloves. Her eyes looked to the familiar room, finally landing on Miyeon's welcoming smile.
"Hi." she mumbled as she made her way inside.
The woman took off her boots, wearing her usual Minnie Mouse's slippers.
She soon sat near her friend on the couch.
The weight of the world seemed to settle onto her shoulders, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Miyeon looked up, immediately setting aside her cup.
"What's wrong?" she asked softly, her hand reaching out to cover Minnie's cold fingers.
Minnie took a deep, tremulous breath before speaking.
"It's just... everything. I feel like everything's falling apart." she fumbled in her pocket for a napkin, dabbing at her eyes.
The tears spilled over, tracing paths down her cheeks.
Miyeon leaned in, her eyes full of concern.
"You know you can tell me anything," she said, her voice a gentle coax.
