Chapter fourteen

The last day of summer break dawned bright and warm, a bittersweet reminder of the freedom soon to be traded for the structured days at Hogwarts. In their shared room at the Burrow, Amelia, Fred, and George were surrounded by scattered belongings, each piece a fragment of their summer memories. The air was filled with a mix of excitement and nostalgia as they began the process of packing their bags for the journey back to school. Amelia sat cross-legged on her bed, her hair still slightly damp from her morning shower, and flipped through her clothes, trying to decide what to bring. "I can't believe this is my last year," she mused aloud, holding up a vibrant dress. "I need to make it unforgettable."

"Unforgettable? What do you have planned, love?" Fred asked, a teasing grin on his face as he tossed a rolled-up pair of socks into his trunk. He leaned against the doorframe, watching her with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. "Oh, you know, maybe I'll start a revolution," Amelia replied, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Or at least plan a few wild parties. Can you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if she walked in on one of my bashes?" George snorted, shaking his head. "She'd probably have a heart attack. But it sounds fun! Count me in for all the chaos. You know we'll need some epic pranks to finish our final year with a bang."

"Absolutely," Fred chimed in, his eyes lighting up at the thought. "We'll give them a show they won't forget!" As they packed, the trio fell into their familiar rhythm of playful banter, tossing clothes back and forth like they were playing an impromptu game. Fred reached over to grab one of Amelia's tops, holding it up with a dramatic flair. "What do you think, George? Should I wear this to the next Quidditch match to distract the Slytherins?"

"Oh, definitely," George replied, smirking. "Nothing says 'focus on the game' like wearing your girlfriend's shirt!" Amelia rolled her eyes, laughing as she snatched her top back. "Keep dreaming, Weasley. You'll have to earn it first!" As they continued to sort through their things, Fred occasionally leaned over to sneak a kiss or make a silly face at Amelia, eliciting more laughter from her. "Honestly, I think you two should just get a room already," George teased, shaking his head as he folded a pile of shirts. "Or are you saving that for your big plans this year?" Amelia blushed, throwing a pillow at George. "Shut it, George! I just want to enjoy my last year without your constant reminders!" Eventually, the packing turned into a game, with Fred and George trying to see who could fit the most items into their trunks without overflowing. They exchanged playful insults as they each tried to outdo the other, and Amelia couldn't help but laugh at their antics, her heart swelling with affection for the two brothers.

Once their trunks were filled and the room was finally organized, the three of them sprawled on the floor, exhausted but happy. The sunlight filtered in through the window, casting a warm glow over them. "I'm really going to miss this place," Amelia said softly, looking around at the familiar surroundings. Fred shifted closer to her, his expression turning serious. "Hey, Hogwarts will always be there, and so will we. Just think of all the memories we're going to make this year. We've got you covered, love." George nodded in agreement. "And who knows? Maybe this will be the best year yet. We'll make sure of it!" Amelia smiled, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension for what lay ahead. "You're right. We'll make it the best. Let's promise to make it unforgettable—together."

With their trunks packed and the promise of new adventures hanging in the air, they spent the rest of the afternoon reminiscing about their past years at Hogwarts. They shared stories about the mishaps, the triumphs, and everything in between, their laughter echoing through the room. The sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the Burrow, Amelia felt a surge of determination. This year would be different; it would be filled with moments that mattered, with laughter, friendship, and maybe a bit of mischief along the way. With Fred and George by her side, she knew she was ready to take on anything that came their way as they prepared for the adventure that awaited them at Hogwarts.
