Chapter twenty seven
The morning of the Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw Quidditch match was charged with excitement, and the entire castle buzzed with anticipation. Amelia slipped on her carefully chosen outfit: a cozy, cream-colored chunky knit sweater that perfectly matched her high-waisted, loose brown jeans. Over her sweater, she wore one of Fred's Gryffindor jerseys, the rich red and gold bold against her layers, showing her support for her boyfriend and her house. She shrugged on her beige coat, grabbed her Gryffindor scarf, and laced up her well-loved Converse, ready for the crisp autumn air.
As she threw her bag over her shoulder, she found Leora waiting for her at the entrance to the dorm, sporting her own Gryffindor scarf and a beanie with a large Gryffindor "G" stitched on the front. "Look at you, Miss Supportive Girlfriend," Leora teased, eyeing Fred's jersey peeking out from under her coat. Amelia laughed, looping her arm through Leora's as they headed out of the castle toward the Quidditch pitch. "What can I say? He looks good in it, but I think I pull it off too," she joked, giving a playful hair flip. Leora smirked. "That's the spirit. Let's hope he catches sight of it before his ego gets any bigger."
They reached the pitch, and the atmosphere was electric. Gryffindors and Ravenclaws filled the stands, waving their respective flags and shouting cheers. Hermione spotted them from the Friends and Family section, waving them over with a big grin. "There you are!" Hermione exclaimed, as they settled in beside her, Hermione draped in her own Gryffindor scarf and gloves. "It's going to be a great game. I've heard Ravenclaw's Seeker is pretty fast." Amelia nodded, eyes scanning the pitch as the players started to walk onto the field. "I know, Fred was up all night strategizing with Harry and George. He's determined to win."
As the Gryffindor team took the field, Amelia noticed Fred scanning the stands until he spotted her. His face broke into a grin as he saw her wearing his jersey, and he jogged over, beaming.
"You're wearing it!" Fred exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. Amelia grinned, tugging at the jersey playfully. "Told you I could pull it off," she said, giving him a quick kiss for good luck. "Go show Ravenclaw what Gryffindor's made of, yeah?"
"Absolutely," Fred replied, smirking. He shot a wink at her and then added, "You better cheer loudly; I'll be listening for it." Leora leaned over with a smirk. "Don't worry, we've got it covered. Good luck, Weasley." Fred gave a quick wave and jogged back to his teammates. As the players took their positions, Amelia settled in next to Hermione and Leora, the three of them wrapped in their scarves and brimming with excitement.
As the match began, the stands erupted into cheers. The sound of chanting and applause filled the air as the Quaffle, Bludgers, and Golden Snitch zoomed around the pitch. The Gryffindor team played with precision, and Fred and George, as Beaters, showed their usual skill in deflecting Bludgers away from their teammates. Harry weaved around Ravenclaw's Seeker in a high-speed chase after the Snitch.
At one point, Fred flew near their section, and Amelia stood up, cheering at the top of her lungs. "Go, Fred! You've got this!" Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she found herself smiling as he nodded, a grin spreading across his face even in the middle of the intense match. Hermione nudged her, her voice full of excitement. "I think he's actually playing better because he knows you're watching." Amelia laughed. "As if he'd ever admit that!" she replied, her gaze fixed back on the game.
The match intensified as the points added up, with Gryffindor inching ahead with each passing minute. Finally, in a spectacular dive, Harry managed to outmaneuver Ravenclaw's Seeker and caught the Snitch, sealing Gryffindor's victory. The Gryffindor stands erupted in cheers, with students and friends jumping up and down, flags waving wildly. Amelia turned to Hermione and Leora, her voice ringing with excitement. "We won! Gryffindor won!"
