Deep in the echoing hall of the throne room, a difficult trial was in progress.
"You dare defy me!" The voice echoed, the anger and betrayal evident in their tone, the person before them on their knees, but their will was strong, they didn't look down, didn't turn away from their superior's gaze
"What you are doing is wrong!" They said back quietly, but firm
"And you know it...we will not survive like this..."
The higher up listened to their words, but it didn't deter them
"You...you were supposed to be by my side....No. Matter. What."
They spoke with unshed tears in their eyes, the love they still held for their most loyal guard shone through, but the hurt remained
"But you spoke against me, not just once but many...many times and this...is the last time!" Their last words were hard and bitter, the doors of the hall slowly opened, they could hear the footsteps of two people, one quicker than the others. The Ex-Guard looked up a little, the shining diamonds in their eyes shrunk at the sight before them, a child of The Great Light, but unknown to them, they were dull colorless, their eyes shut, but they knew their eyes were on them, the curiosity in their movements, they were looking around the area, still holding onto the hand of their guide.
A small chitter was heard from the guide to the child, but was too quiet to make out, they were led to sit next to the guard, with a small hug the guide left the room so their superior could carry out what they had in mind.
The Ex-Guard could immediately tell what was to become of them, their eyes snapped to the highest, the pleading look almost made their ruler's heart break into millions.
"I love you, but I can't have them think I am any less than....her...you had your chance...no, many chances to not speak out and you broke every single one...so...I banish you from these lands.."
Their voice broke, struggling to say the words, their staff in their hands trembling slightly, the Ex-Guard was trying to change their mind, trying to recant their thoughts, trying to spare themselves from their fate, their rambles were spilling from them, quickly but frivolously, the ground around them burned with red hot fire but it did not hurt, only ignited the fear in their heart. The child of The Great Light went from confusion to fear in an instant, the fire grew yellow around them rising into a fiery dome, they tried to free themselves from this prison, but it was pointless, they tried and tried till their hands were turned into golden dust and soon all of them, everything was dark, they felt light, lighter than when they flew through the clouds of their home, where it was warm and peaceful.
Suddenly they blinked their yellow dotted eyes open, they were home, they slowly sat up, looking around briefly before standing, their experience seemed non-existent, like a dream...
When they looked down to their left they saw a staff, with a strong grip they lifted it up, expecting it to be heavy they almost knocked their head, it was surprisingly light but sturdy, they inspected it closely, a red gem immediately caught their eyes, something told them not to touch it, a quiet voice in the back of their mind, quickly fleeting like the wind.
