Please join us in congratulating the Fanfiction winners of the Astania Community's Harvest Festival 2024:
FIRST PLACE
with a score of 98/110...Your Devil: A Doomed Catastrophe by Pviscelle
Your Devil: A Doomed Catastrophe is a well-written piece of fanfiction. The prose and structure all flow together really well, and each character has their own unique voice that makes it interesting and fun to read. The characters, especially the men, are intense and brooding, which make them fun. They act on instinct when one of their own is harmed or in trouble and they look after one another like brothers, blood or not, should. Aera herself is an interesting character as well. We see her come into her own in the prologue, then se where she started, living a small, quiet life, which makes the mystery of her journey all the more captivating.
SECOND PLACE
with a score of 89/110...Aveyond: Rhen's Quest by allonsy_sherlockians
This story so far has been very nice to read! Your descriptions are neither too much or too little, and the pacing was well done. I liked how you immediately brought the priestess and Rhen together in the first chapter, and then ended the second one with Rhen being taken by slave traders, with the third chapter thrusting us several months later where she lives a horrible life as a slave. I do wonder why the priestess gave Rhen that ring, which is how the slave traders found her, and if the priestess had bad motives or if she really was protecting Rhen, and what did she mean by "chosen one". You did a good job in showing Lars as a terrible boy and bully, and I hope that Rhen will get back at him one day. You also did well in describing Rhen's panic and restriction of air when the slave trader captured her. All in all, good job!
THIRD PLACE
with a score of 88.5/110...A Different Kind of Hell by Silmarilz1701
This was a good story! Immediately bringing us into action and battle was a nice way of introducing us to the story and the characters. Although I'm not familiar with the original work and this is book 3, I was still able to follow the story pretty well. I did find the pacing and flow to be a little too fast and jolty (let's say it was much like a sea xD) as you tended to bring us into time jumps in both chapters 2 and 3, but maybe it's how the story is supposed to go (and how the original work is written). I like how you showed us the great relationship between Eve and Finno as husband and wife, and Eve's constant thoughts and feelings of guilt/shock/regret at killing people. Overall, good job!
