"So, what color is your dragon then?" Scott asks me. The group has been interrogating me about my dragon while we're waiting for Kirstie at the airport.
"Blue," I reply raising an eyebrow. "What other color would it be?"
"I don't know? Green? Red? Purple with sparkles?" Mitch laughs.
I superfrown.
"How come I've never seen it at the house?" Kevin asks.
"I just got it and we're going on tour, so I got a dragonsitter, obviously!" Just as I say that, I spot Kirstie walking down the hall.
She looked extremely tired. Her hair was up in a messy bun, and she had dark circles under her red eyes.
I stand up, greeting her. "Kirstie! Are you okay?"
She sighs, "No! Jeremy... He... He just..." She broke down into tears and I embraced her. I hate to see her like this. We're super close and I don't want Jeremy hurting her.
"What did Jeremy do?" Mitch asked, getting up to hug her.
"He, cheated on me!" She kept crying as Scott and Kevin came over and we all comforted her. I can't believe Jeremy would do that to her. Kirstie doesn't deserve someone who doesn't appreciate her.
"I'm so sorry!" I tell her.
"He totally doesn't deserve you," Scott says.
She sits down in the seat next to me and we all settle around her.
"I just don't know what to do!" She exclaimes wiping the tears from her face. "I mean, he wasn't home last night, so I just assumed he was at the bar with some friends. But when I woke up this morning, he still wasn't in the house so I started texting him because I was scared but he didn't even emtext me back! Right before I left for the airport, some girl dropped him off at our house.
"When I asked Jeremy why he was gone all night and some random girl drove him home early this morning, he just apologized and everything and he told me it was an accident. He told me he was at the bar with his friends, had one too many drinks and then he met this girl and she took him home! I didn't know how to react. I just told him I don't have time for his bullshit and that we'll figure things out after the tour."
I looked at her and the way wisps of her hair fell around her face. The way her beautiful chocolate eyes were tearing up hurt my heart so much. It was beautiful the way she rested her head on my shoulder.
Wait- did I just call her beautiful? One of my best friends is telling me that her boyfriend cheated on her, and I'm calling her beautiful. I mean, she is, though, as a friend. Right? We're so close, but it's not like we would ever date or anything... Would we?
I'll push that though out of my brain and focus on helping Kirstie get over her relationship problems. I put my arm around her shoulder and wipe away the tear forming falling from her eye as we wait to board the plane.
