Yukina: "—and then that dragon swooped in and saved them before they fell into the tempest! A real dragon... Heh, I always thought Mondstadt was some boring old place, just a place to get drunk off dandelion wine. But... the stuff Paimon was talking about... it sounds pretty exciting!"
Y/N: "Well, once we win this war I suppose you'll be able to take a boat out there, no? See that nation for yourself?"
Yukina: "Mhm. I guess so! And I wanna meet that Acting Grand Master Jean! She sounds so cool! But, well, even still..."
Y/N: "Hmm? Even still...? Even still what?"
Yukina: "Hmph! I still think Paimon is totally wrong, you're way more impressive than that Traveller is Captain!!!"
As Yukina protested this once again her hands were pressed into her hips as if Paimon was here right now and she was getting mad at her all over again. That argument between the two about which of myself and Aether was more impressive seemed to go on for hours. And even now, the following day after the argument, Yukina is still riled up by the whole thing.
Y/N: "Heh... never change Yukina, never change..."
Yukina: "H-Hey! What do you mean by that?!"
Y/N: "Oh, pay it no mind. I'm just musing to myself..."
Yukina: "Hmph! You're so mean to me, Captain..."
All the while that Yukina had been recounting Paimon's retelling of Aether's journey thus far I had been focusing on deciphering that mysterious letter that I had received from someone. The one that Sangonomiya Kokomi left with me to decipher, so as to give me something productive to do during my bereavement leave I was still on.
Having done my research on how to decipher, thanks to Her Excellency's books she lent me, I was now actively trying to decipher this letter. And whilst I appreciated Yukina's company whilst she's off duty, it was really quite difficult to focus on my deciphering attempts with her yammering at me the whole time! But now I was on my fifth attempt of deciphering...
Y/N: "If... you... are... struggling... to... read... this..."
Yukina: "Hmm? What are you saying? Are you okay...?"
Y/N: "...ask Kuki... for... help... she'll... know... how."
Yukina: "Ugh, talking about her again? And what do you mean she'll know? Know what...? Are you having a stroke or something?!"
Y/N: "Oh shush, you! Hmm... I think I might have just figured out this cypher; the sentences make sense with this rule... and it's really not that complex either..."
Yukina: "Huh? You figured it out?! Wow, that was really fast! Come on then, what does it say?! What does it say?!"
Y/N: "Give me a minute, Yukina. I still need to actually convert it..."
I then grabbed a spare sheet of parchment and brought it side by side with the one I was decoding. And using the new rule that seemed to be working for me so far, I slowly started to translate the code over to the new sheet of parchment: shifting each and every letter from the encoded message by five letters in the alphabet...
