Halloween last year

Parties always seemed to be hosted by Ron and his friends. It made sense that the most popular boys in school would find themselves in charge of the majority of the parties. Everyone knew who they were after all, so most people going to their party rather than someone unknown was expected.

This posed a problem for Carl. Obviously he didn't want to attend a party with Ron Anderson, let alone one hosted by him. There were a few who felt the same and had attempted to have a party of their own. Not many attended. It ended up being more of a Ron hate club meet up than a real party. Of course Carl and his friends were there, as was Patrick and a few others, mostly Patrick's friends.

The girls and Carl had left when it was apparent that Patrick and his friends were trying to flirt with them. Patrick was nice enough, but Carl wasn't interested. His heart longed for another - Ron.

That's how Carl found himself in Enids car with his friends.
"We could just go get something to eat." Alicia suggested, her set the one behind Enid. "We're all dressed up. I want to at least do something Halloween." Enid declared, one hand on the steering wheel. The car was parked in a McDonald's parking lot as they discussed where to go. "We could go trick or treating." Sophia said quietly, knowing she would earn backlash. "No, please. I want to at least act like we're in high school." Alicia replied immediately. "It wouldn't be that bad." Carl whispered, not against the idea. He was in the front passenger seat.

Lydia, who was sitting in between Sophia and Alicia said something the others could barely hear.

"What?" Enid asked, afraid she had heard that correctly.
"We could... we could just go to Henry and Ben's party." She spit out, looking down immediately after. She prepared to get told off.
"Oh yeah. That sounds perfect. We could even say hi to our best friend Ron." Enid said sarcastically. "I'm sure there's a lot of people there. We might not even see him." Lydia said quietly. "Might is not strong enough for me. I prefer a night were I definitely won't see that dick." Alicia gave her opinion. "Agreed." Enid whispered.

"We could try. He's probably drunk anyway." Carl said, surprising them all. He usually tried to avoid the other boy at all costs. The group was quiet for a moment. "What else do we have to do." Sophia said. "It can't be worse than Patrick's party." Lydia added. "It could." Alicia declared.

Carl looked up at the house. It was decked out in fake spider webs, green and orange lights, and a plethora of other Halloween decorations. He could hear the music coming from inside already.
